Archibald is done, as is Gaunce.

Gagner, not even close.

Nice writeup op i agree those are the 7 fwds who are on thin ice and in correct order. I think and hope Gagner is gone, Granlund too

I feel Lipesic will be JUST fine. Im hopeful on Goldobin but we will see. Will see with Mott what we gott as the season begins. Almost FOR SURE he will begin in Utica

Virtanen should be on there. Only reason he isn't is because he was 6th overall pick and a local kid.

If you're comparing him to the players listed then his age should be considered. Definitely could see him on that list next year though if he doesn't at least establish himself as a solid third liner this year.

... and it says everything you need to know about this organization that two guys who were young, cheap, very effective homegrown 3rd liners for this team last year are probably done while a guy who is a complete bag of suck and has been a sub-replacement level player for 4.5 of the past 5 years has a guaranteed roster spot on his $10 million deal.

Craig Button was on Sekeres and Price today. He was asked who his bounce back candidate is for next season. He picked Granlund, mentioned the likes of Eriksson, Gagner, and Hutton, but said Granlund was in a different class from those guys. He's had one "off" season according to Button. Why does the media love this guy so much?

Hell
Gagner and Granlund should be on thin ice. You could even throw Baertschi into that group.

Instead they’re both going to be eating up 15-17 minutes a night doing absolutely jack shit.

Meanwhile Gaunce, a young-ish cheap, responsible, homegrown forward who does well in heavy defensive zone usage is likely getting cut and claimed on waivers. Sigh.

The article lost me in the first few sentences.....the Pollyannish evaluation of our talent makes any further analysis suspect.

I remember reading somewhere that Button’s brother worked for the Flames as a head scout. Not sure if he still does or when he was let go but maybe Button’s brother drafted Granlund?

So Travis Green is willing to bench the Sedins down to 10min games yet fans believe he will play inferior players come this regular season...hmmmmnnnn

Interesting take?

Also that 37 year old Beagle in anyway should be a part of the 4 best lines in the League is nothing but laughable.

And people really need to start spelling Dahlen right, Dahlin is another player. Who plays for Buffalo Sabres.

A lot of players will be upset if they engrave the names like this to the cup

In my opinion, here are the players that should be on thin ice: In no particular order....

1) Gagner
2) Granlund
3) Goldobin
4) Gaunce
5) Gudbranson
6) Hutton
7) Del Zotto
8) Pouliot
9) Eriksson
10) Nilsson

Virtanen and Leipsic should be given more opportunities this year. While neither guy is quite where they need to be, I think both guys showed just enough to warrant earning more ice time and responsibility.

Use Sutter EXACTLY how you used him last season. The man was finally deployed correctly and we reaped the benefits.

Only players in that list that bring anything to the team and Gaunce, Archibald, and maybe Goldy.

I like Goldobin’s offensive potential a lot, but his defensive game and compete level is terrible. He REALLY needs to step up here.

Gaunce and Archie are kind of meh for me. I don’t dislike them, as I think both guys work their butts off, but both guys are fringe NHL’ers. Both guys are good 13th forwards.
