I expect this to be very ugly for us.

Good thing I won't be able to watch. Probably means we are going to have an epic comeback win...

Talbot is playing really well. Hopefully we get their backup.

I've watched a couple Minnesota games this season and they look hungry. They'll be a tough opponent. Watch for #89 Freddy Gaudreau... he's an under rated guy... fast with a bit of an edge.

Reasons to have some hope:

Gus gets the start and they play better in front of him.
D will be shuffled as Mete likely comes out and MDZ goes in, *maybe* that yields results.
If Watson returns it could spark the team.
We're a hungry team that normally plays hard, the top two lines will be bent on redeeming themselves after ugly game in Chicago.

Cam Talbot likely to start as Minny only has one game between now and Saturday and then a back to back. They'll want to pace the division and ride the hot hand on a light week.

Gutsy game coming up. Go Sens.

Watson back on that 4th lie could make it a decent line. We have missed him ,although may take him a few games to get up to speed so don't expect too much.

Gus will play solid!

Will our defence, well we will see, MDZ would be the right D-Man to insert as he seen the Wild last year right?

Of they have this Russian guy we should pay attention to by the way! Lol....
3rd line duty would be perfect match up?

Kids will be tired but is okay they can sleep when their dead.

If Mete is the player coming out after last night's game then there are some really big issues with accountability in this organization. He was one of the few players that showed up.

Mete was the best D behind Chabot… can’t see him coming out of the line up. Brown had a good game too. They should take Zaitsev out but we know this won’t happen.

Agreed. Mete and Brown were definitely not the problem last night, Zaitsev on the other hand ….

Simply because they play the same side and DJ is liable to rest some legs on a back to back.

Watson returns and MDZ draws in.

I may be wrong, but I can't see Mete or Brown coming out after last night. Maybe MDZ draws in for Holden or Zaitsev. As much as Holden was great to start the season, his past 3 games have been terrible. Zaitsev has obviously been pretty brutal all year.

They better be 100% ready tonight. None of them played well at all and that doesn't work at all.

Be ready.

Its unfortunate DJ hasn't identified Zaitsev as the weak link with Holden on that 2nd pair .. and waits for a game like last night to make a change on the road.

Zaitsev's effect on his partners is clear and measurable.

Now he'll probably only want to make 1 change so as not to disrupt 2 pairs which means Mete or Brown and the bigger issue remains. Pulling Mete or Brown when they are playing to their level of competence is not a solution.

What is needed imo is

Mete Holden
MDZ .. Brown/Zaitsev.

Zaitsev should be on the 3rd pair. On this team with our current D personnel we have to identify Holden to stay there and find him a partner that can work. Is that Mete, MDZ or Brannstrom.. we have to answer.

And for this game he should be pulling Zaitsev.

We have two problems here. One is DJ's rose colored glasses for Zaitsev and the bigger problem is the quality of the depth on D.. DJ is forced to pick between 3rd pair D , arguably #6 D to play on the 2nd pair. What is clear to me is that Holden Zaitsev isn't working. Zaitsev has been a fixture on the 2nd pair and has not worked with anyone. Dorion's inability to find an effective 2nd pair D is holding this team back and is hurting growth and development. We need to be able to exit the zone. That's not 100% all on the D ; but with young forwards learning Dzone reads at the NHL level.. its a very large piece.

I kind of wonder if Zaitsev is super important to DJ as a translator for Zub.

Zub's English has improved but during a game its probably a lot easier to communicate in your native language.
