Like others have said, I was really impressed with Buddy Robinson. For some reason he reminds me of Klinkhammer (who by the way played 72 games last season). It's unreal how well this guy skates for a big man.

Sure of all this is possible...but it's just as a likely that he flourishes on the wing. Just because it didn't work with some players doesn't mean it will for Pageau. Look at Gallagher, Marchand (yes marchand is only 5'9 185), Hudler, Gionta, Cammalleri, Gerbe, Ennis, Sullivan maybe even conacher. Until they try him at the wing we will never know. Even if he does well enough to move smith to the wing he's still going to be playing 4th line minutes with plugs. All I'm saying is guys like Hoffman and Stone they get top 6 shots, they get PP time, give him a shot like that and see what he can do.

Comparing Pageau to any of those players, with the exception of Conacher, is just being wishful thinking IMO.

JGP has never shown the ability to score at an elite level since his junior days.

It is quite a stretch to think shifting him to the wing will somehow bring out his scoring touch.

JGP has elite speed, average shot, good defensively, and at 5'9'' 175 a little small for a defensive winger IMO.

If the Sens were taking a flyer and planning to keep a bubble player for the wing, based on camp so far, I believe JGP doesn't make the list.

He was nearly PPG in the AHL last year

So Pageau and Marchand have similar career numbers before making the NHL and imo are at a very similar skill level. How is this not a fair comparable?

Wouldn't be so critical if it was a rare mistake, but it wasn't.

Neil drops too deep in the D Zone on a regular basis and gets himself out of position, that play last night just reminded me of his play last season.

Neil does not kill penalties for the simple reason that he is not quick enough and has slow first three steps. So, why was he on the ice when the other team was pulling its goaltender to create a man advantage in the Senators defensive zone? This goal was a result of the coaches putting him on the ice in a man disadvantage situation.

His junior days? Dating all the way back yonder to 2012? He had 20 goals in 46 games last year in the A. That's a pretty nice clip in a second pro season. I think you may be underrating JGP's ability to put pucks into the net.

Number wise I suppose that's a great comparison. What makes Marchand so valuable is that he's a ****-head to play against plays with much more of an edge than Pageau probably ever will.

Pageau may not be Marchand, but he still plays with more of an edge than 90% of this roster.

Don't believe I am underrating JGP.

My comments were specifically related to JGP being switched to the wing, which IMO doesn't offer him a better opportunity to make the team.

Puempel had 30 goals in his first AHL season (not playing top line minutes) and clearly isn't a lock to make the team.

I take Pageau down the middle 10 times out of 10 ahead of Smith. I unno why we discussing him on the wing.

While I don't agreed that JGP is better than Smith, I do agree his best opportunity to make the Sens is at center.

As I wrote in an earlier post, he has to show he can replace Smith between Greening and Neil, a job I wouldn't wish on anybody.

Now if the Sens were open to making Neil the 13th forward and trading Greening, then a line of Smith/Pageau/Robinson or Condra could definitely be an interesting option.

While the other team may have been attempting to pull the goaltender, not sure how this explains Neil's mistakes.

It seems whenever a player makes a mistake, the blame must be laid at the coaches or another player's feet.

I realize he isn't a PKer and there is obvious reasons for why that is, but that isn't an excuse for getting out of position and in no man's land in the D zone.

If as you stated, Neil is not quick enough and has a slow first three steps, then he must rely on great positioning. Yet that isn't a strength he seems to possess. It is not like this was a first time occurrence.

Maybe it is my bias creeping in, but the benefits Neil brings are vastly overshadowed by his weaknesses at this point in time.
