Who takes over his PK minutes?

Our team is full of defensive defenseman, so you take your pick. The only offensive defensemen are karlsson and chabot.

So of our 4 defensive defenseman in the lineup(or 5 if we play 7 d) take the 3 best defensive D and karlsson and you've got 4 d penalty killing.

And, Cody Ceci would be one of the 3 best defensive D men.

Oh gosh give it up people. Karlsson is the most talented player to have ever put on this jersey. He has carried this team for years now and this is the way the fanbase treats him?? He almost single handedly brought us to the Stanley Cup Finals last year and has never done anything to make you people turn on him, except for injuring his ankle.

Not sure if its the media in this town or if we are just a dumb fanbase, but when the pitch forks come out for the best player in the world (when healthy), instead of the management group, we are in serious trouble and this city doesn't deserve NHL hockey.

Murray/Dorion and company's philosophy is built for old school hockey, not the new speedy NHL. The finger needs to be pointed at Dorion and not Karlsson.

Karlsson has given this city and this organization over 500 games of incredible hockey, and now with a rough 15 game stretch where he is probably only playing at 60% of what he can, the fanbase is starting to turn on him. Fans should be ashamed and embarrassed by their reactions on Karlsson.

I'd agree if Karlsson were playing speedy.

He's not. He's struggling, he's playing very badly.

It's a big reason why we're losing so many games. It's also why he's been pretty much a Hart Trophy candidate since he joined the league. He is extremely valuable to this team, which means they stink when he does for the most part.

No one should be ashamed to be stating facts.

Goaltending is the other biggest culprit IMO.

It's not an ideal situation when discussing his contract but he's still right in that he can name his price and someone will pay it.

It's a bit reminiscent of Mario Lemieux where his injury and illness situation always generated an element of risk - but the sheer talent level means you pay up and hope for the best.

I'm sorry but do you really think that's such a big deal? His pk minutes. Our pk stinks. You think it's worse If some mere mortal takes over the pk minutes of the great ceci?

Is ceci that great of a pk guy that no one else's can do that job.

Also don't need to be a defensive defenseman to kill penalties.

Over our losing streak before the islanders Win it was "can't blame ceci. He's a dman and our GA haven't been that bad therefore he's doing super good"

Now that we've given up 10 goals in 2 games it's still "look. Ceci is irreplaceable"

If your pinning this team sucking solely on Cody Ceci you need to give your head a shake and wake up, start watching the games and see how everyone outside of Mark Stone and some of the role guys have drastically underperformed....Ceci has not been good at all this year however theres so much more to the struggle than that, almost wish Ceci could go down for a bit so folks could see there are much larger issues than just him. I literally lol at some in here thinking if you moved him off, that the team would just return back to playing good.

If there is a player who isn't named "Mark Stone" that you're not particularly enamoured with, you will never have a better time to get your licks in.

You're right. I'm just saying a defensive defenseman should suffice on the PK. It'sthe simplest job. Box out the forwards from trying to get in front of your goalies sight, while shooting any puck you can get to down the ice.

No one is pinning our trouble solely on ceci.

And no one thinks if we got rid of ceci we are automatically really good. But this guy is used as our 2nd d man. He's not some small piece of the team.

Well, it's not like our other Dmen have been doing great and he's the only one struggling;

I really don't think taking Ceci out of the group fixes anything.

Perhaps, many people are implying it though...the dmen have been meh to poor and most of the forwards and tending have been much worse imo

Boucher is in a bit of a pickle if he can't get the team to play "the System" effectively. The GAA for the team is 6th worst in the NHL. Last year the message was to cut down on GA and keep games close.. The Sens did that. This year for a variety of reasons what they are doing isn't working. Can Boucher get them back on track? Can they get back to trap and counter? That is part of the problem. The 2nd part and maybe the bigger part is play in our Dzone.. We do not defend well. The combination of losing Methot, Boro, and EK not being himself have been too much to overcome. That plus not getting great goal tending to bail them out, or in some cases, the goalies have created their own GA. Still teams are getting some pretty quality looks on what seem to be basic coverage issues. I question even if they get their neutral zone fixed, that with EK playing on one leg, if they can win their share of the games they keep close. If the players start to bail on the system , (if they haven't already) ,. the cohesiveness will suffer as will the results.

It was a probably a Heatley jersey that the guy forgot to throw on the ice 7 years ago.

No him simply not being there doesn't feel fix anything. But again. He's convo. The polarizing players are convo.

I do think coaching and management thinking he is more than he is is an issue though. People always say well look at the top of the lineup and how they're doing before blaming the bottom sixers and bottom pair. Well. Isn't ceci at the top of the lineup?

No it hasn't been implied. To blame the struggles of the entire team on one player is silly.

Like I said before. He's always gonna generate discussion. Which is why I don't get when people are like "why is ceci even being talked about!!!!!!!" Well because every one can agree oduya isn't playing well. Convo done. Phaneuf has his weaknesses everyone kinda comes to an agreement fairly quickly. Done. Karlsson our best player not playing well right now. Done. But then ceci you have just opposite opinions going at it. Which is cool and fun.

The Dzone coverage is atrocious
Forwards dont come back deep enough and miss assignments all the time
Jets were patroling our slut aera all night yesterday
Maybe Duchene is better then Turris to put up points but Kyle was really really good in the Dzone

Something must be done to shake things up

It is a team wide failure right now, it is not responsible to fixate on one or 2 players (AKA Oduya or Duchene).

Because again everyone but Stone is failing.
