Before the game they showed a girl on the scoreboard with a sign that said she was in from Scotland for her first Devils game. That had to be one of you, right? If you are hardcore enough a fan to travel from Scotland to watch them play Ottawa, you are probably an HFer 
Can see all sides of this argument but in all honesty just like when the draft them you might disagree and say they should have done this or that in the end you get behind the pick and hope for the best....It's the same with whoever they play you might disagree but you get behind them and hope they perform....We need the whole team to find their rhythm in these last 8 or 9 games not just the net minders...

I get your logic and you trying to play Devils Advocate (no pun intended) here.
But we've had more than a sample size when it came to Mackenzie Blackwood here.
We've had a CONTINENT-sized "Sample size" and that showed that he just isn't a good goaltender anymore (he's barely serviceable....like on Life-Support serviceable).

Tatar was rather polarizing coming into this season but man he's been solid. I'd love to give him an extension, within logical reason, to be one of the vets with with group.

Watching Blackwood right now is like Watching CS post 2016. "Meh" you wanna believe but, it ain't happening bro.
Cap wise I just don't think they can do it....Especially if he has a good playoffs showing I think he'll want term and similar to what he's getting paid now...
There is a guy they need to sign LT and give him as much ice cream as he wants too...

Damm Skippy! Yeah this team has an amazing core. We shouldn't go from 50 plus wins back into the toilet like Florida and Calgary have this year. A standard has been set. Going to be some tweaking in the offseason. Mercer does it all young Zach Parise type of things.

He’s probably worse than him post-2016 and maybe even post 2017 when he was really starting to get bad. And he was pretty bad. As a matter of fact, he might actually be worse than him NOW, if only because I see he’s had two consecutive good years at the AHL level.
That he doesn’t mean he’d be good in the NHL, but there’s a considerable gap between not good in the NHL and Blackwood.
I would say he’s even worse than the Marty we saw his last season here. Adjusted for era maybe he’s not or about the same, but do we really think 40 games of Blackwood or however many Marty played that year would have been anything short of a disaster?

Yeah he has some of the tools Blackwood. Maybe it's our goaltending coach too. Not getting him to better his game the 1st goal he allowed was basically a "layup" for a NHL shooter. Not using his size back in his net and on his knees WTF? He's good in tight on net mouth scrambling and can stop some breakaways. Overall just a backup at best and Schmid has done as well as MBW did when he 1st hit NHL ice and Schmid put up better numbers in the AHL. Rebound control poor. Playing the puck an absolute adventure. Durability D-. Yeah highest selection for goaltenders in what 2015 and we had a long enough test drive...
Meier net front presence again on Mercer goal. That’s I believe three goals over the past few games he has taken the goalies eyes away and although not gotten a point on, been perhaps as much a factor as anyone who did.

I thought maybe the goalie coach was to blame, mostly because Blackwood's game has gone downhill since Melanson was fired and Rogalski was hired. But the other goalies this year are playing at an acceptable level and last year all the goalies here just sucked and were either not yet ready for the NHL or were career minor leaguers like Gillies and Hammond. And then you start remembering that Blackwood wasn't a good goalie in the AHL before he made his NHL debut and then you can come to the reasonable conclusion that Blackwood just isn't any good.
The first goal he allowed was even worse when you keep watching it than it initially looked. Tkachuk didn't even label it top corner. That was one of those shots that easily could have hit Blackwood in the chest, especially since the guy is so big. But he was so deep in his net. He could have caught that puck in the butterfly and not even extending his glove hand when you slow that down.
Up until this year I think he would have been the first goalie taken in a 2015 redraft, but I might have Samsonov ahead of him now and even Adin Hill.
And before this year, Samsonov didn't have as impressive of a career in the NHL as Blackwood. He had one solid season as Holtby's very sparsely used backup, which was kind of like Blackwood's 18-19, though Blackwood wasn't up that entire year but my point still stands. And then he had two seasons where he was not good and not even as good as Vanecek on the same team, but he's been good in Toronto and better than Matt Murray who is still the rickety and falling Matt Murray.

Sucks! Hope you feel better bud.
I had a touch of something for a few days just now. Not sure if sinuses or allergies or what. I get it for a few days a couple different times a year. And stuff on the right side of my face starts hurting. Like my right ear and a wisdom tooth on my right side that I was supposed to have pulled almost 30 years ago.
I even some weird pain on my right cheek below my eye.
But it’s usually never too bad. I rarely get sick since moving to a warmer climate with very mild to warm winters.

I was on the “ launch Tatar into outer space “ train last year . I have done a complete 180 since then . He looks waaaay more engaged and committed this season . Dare I say , I like him as a player now .

Wouldn't be surprised if Tatar signed with us at slightly lower than what he got 2 years ago. Guys who've made a lot of money and are at the end of their careers might have different priorities.
