Blackwood had an okay game for not playing in over a month. Not sure why everyone still keeps trying to shit on the guy every chance they get. We need our goaltending to start to pick up over the next 9 games. You want Vanaceck and Blackwood to both feel good heading into the playoffs. Yeah there is always a chance Schmid can dress as a backup but right now the other 2 just need to get back on track. If Vitek were to start and we were hypothetically down 0-2 in the series than another goalie would most likely get the start. Right now Vitek is still our starter and that probably won't change. I'm fine with that but next year if Schmid plays well than there might be a bigger split of games amongst the 2.

Blackwood can't 'cause he is no longer a GOOD goaltender.


The last time he was lights-out good, it was before the entire WORLD shut down (Covid).

He also got hurt as well, and when he came back, it was apparent that he was no longer the goaltender many here thought he could've been.


It's long-past time to move on from Mackenzie Blackwood.

If he plays in the Playoffs, that would mean that something really wrong happened 'cause I definitely see Akira backing up Vitek more than I see Blackwood backing Vitek.

It’s quite possible that it has something to do with the fact this is the worst full time goalie in the NHL, who has been bad for 3 seasons and over 70 games now. He also plays a 60 minute position; which happens to be the most important position in the game. So it’s not like people shitting on Smith or Wood or McLeod or some bottom pairing defenseman or forward, who aren’t as lethal to your team as a very bad goaltender.

It probably also has something to do with him still being a thing here and we’ve already seen a better goalie demoted in favor of him the last time he came back from extended injury and it just May happen once again.

Yes, he had an okay game for a bad goalie. It certainly wasn’t the best game a bad goalie has had this season in the NHL, considering Jonathan Quick has two shutouts and Blackwood himself had I think a few one goal against games. Even Krappo from the Sharks has a shutout this year.

I just now realized the first goal was even worse than I originally thought.

Why the f*** is he so deep in his net?

He could have caught that without even lifting his glove in the air.

That could have even pegged him in the crest.

His positioning was horrible and why was he so deep? Is he trying the Lundqvist/Mike Smith thing now?

Yeah his positioning was bad on goal two, but there was a dude completely in front of him. Like right in his face. That’s a legit screen.

We'd need something really horrific to happen like Vanecek turning into 2021 Jarry for him to even think about Blackwood but even though it's a moot point. Schmid would be the only goalie I'd throw in a Rangers series that isn't Vitek.
