I honestly didnt think Vegas had a Stanley Cup roster in 2018. What they achieved is unforgettable and I will always look back fondly on the Golden Misfits. But thus roster is something much bigger, literally and figuratively.
So true, they had a lot of holes especially on D and in the bottom six. They really got lucky to get to the Finals despite the record, they won a bunch of close games and everyone was saying Fleury was unbeatable. That's why before this series started i said the Panthers run reminded me of the Knights 2018 run.

Lol oh yeah. Several times. Especially when discussing the weak ass Pacific division. Vegas only led the conference cause they beat up on Anaheim and San Jose according to some.
Oh yes, I think I can remember reading lots of declarations.
It just bolsters my point about how boring it is to argue about East-West.
There was a period during which I think there actually was a different mentality and mode of play between the East and West conference teams, but in my view (and as always, I can be wrong haha) that was a while ago.
So many strategy and coaching doctrines have been accepted and employed across the league that I just don't see this geographical correlation to different styles of hockey. To me, that is history.

In the most recent era, west has always been the tougher side in my estimation. Close enough to not be an issue, but they divide the teams this way and we must evaluate as such.

Thachuk with what 22min in penalties for nothing anyone could see?

Holy hell reffs I know you want to keep the game under control but that's a whole other level. It's the f***ing finals
f*** around and find out. His penchant for agitation is weakening.

I think there's some merit that historically the east has played more skilled, open, and speedy hockey while the West has been more physical and defensive. But the degree of how impactful one side of the coin is varies from year to year. The teams that go the distance typically have a blend of all of those traits, to your point. And yes I think the quibbling about which conference is superior is always stupid.

Surprised at the extent of Florida’s mental meltdown in this game. Of course you want the guys to keep fighting and keep their energy up, but they were wildly unfocused in the 3rd. Felt like watching them lose their aura.

Hav to say, as someone who’s always found Tkachuk to be a really chippy player, man was that a big hit clean hit. 80’s style shoulder to shoulder lowers the boom.

Kudos to Eichel for coming back, at first I thought his shoulder was out but I guess it was more of a stinger.

I do dislike refs “getting players out of the game” to avoid what should have been coming, retribution.

let the boys go… his second misconduct was nonsense

Anyways hoping for Florida to take the next 2 to make it a series. As a hockey fan with no dog in this fight I just want 7 games

It isnt about the casual fan. It is about stopping a game from becoming a clownshow, and when Cucky is losing that is exactly what he tries to do.
"Not about the casual fan" that's a great way to grow the game. A guy lays a clean hit and gets thrown out of the game and the casual fan is supposed to understand that just what refs do for this particular player but not others because of vague reasons. Yeah, that doesn't sit well with me.

I realize you have some sort of unresolved rage towards Tkachuk based on you repeatedly and creepily calling him "Cucky" but that sort of game management is a huge issue with this league regardless of the player being thrown out. If this was Kolesar getting thrown out I would feel the same.

Game was over. It’s not the best look but every team does it when down big. Nothing unusual about what happened there in my eyes

hopefully you’re not going to tell me a tale about a wayward flamingo that wandered into the Knights’ locker room one evening as they were awaiting to take the ice....
Actually we could tell you that security tried to clamp down on allowing flamingoes in, true story.
