They have the 7th worst points percentage in the league, the 5th worst goal differential, and just got utterly dominated by Detroit for two games. They should be selling players regardless of some anomaly about the playoff cutoff.

Unlikely. The players are trying to hold the mindset that you would want from them. GMs are supposed to think about more than that.
