The moral of the story is... when Pete DeBoer is involved, the Devils always lose.
I see what you did there!

We did beat him once with a Kinkaid shutout (and I remember DSP scoring on his Mario Lemieux-like first month with us) a couple years back in San Jose. So it's not like we've NEVER beaten him. Which DD will probably be saying we never did, as he's already forgotten about that one.

The Sharks were a cup finalist in 15-16 and I would have considered them contenders last year (I don't think they are this year), and we were a BAD team the last two years, so it should be no surprise that we mostly lose to them. This year we were 5-1-0, with a very high shooting percentage, so this game was bound to happen to even out the percentages a bit.

im going to the ottawa game next week, hopefully a week long break coming off a loss gives them the advantage over the senators

It boggles my mind he scored 9 goals in his career and 5 were in his rookie year. How did he score 5 in one season? I remember one of them, the others must have been empty netters. There is no way he ever scores 10 in a season. Hell getting 5 again is a stretch.
4 of them were in the first 2 weeks of the season. I'm pretty sure 3 of them were in the first 4 games of the season. Then he had one two weeks later, then he had one in the season finale, which I remember because I was there. That was after not scoring one since October, though he did miss over 2 months that season.

Butcher was just whatever, but the last 3 were definitely a trifecta of suck.

Eh, 6-2, not the end of the world. Their goalie played well, and got extremely lucky with at least 3 posts.

I couldn't even count the number of times I heard Cangi say "Severson can't hold the zone" tonight. The usual suspects were brutal back there of course. Our defense was a real tire fire tonight.

Can't believe we got shutout.

Why couldn't it have been against a coach that WASN'T a coach of the Devils? Bah.

See....THIS is why I was praying the Devils would have a win prior to this break.

If only the Sharks game wasn't on the schedule and we went into this break at 6-1.....

MoJo has been mostly MehJo through 7 games.

I'm genuinely concerned there given he's not been as advertised. I didnt think tonight was particularly any worse than he has been playing, just meh.

I agree. But tonight he was meh and tired, which made his meh look worse. Really, the team looked fine for maybe the first half of the game, then faded off.

Whelp, crappy game but I had a good time. It really was apparent from the beginning that the Devils didn’t have the jump they had to start the season. Yes, they hit some posts and almost scored a few times, but SJ really carried play most of the game.

Bratt is marvelous to watch when he’s on his game. People around me were buzzing about him. Watching him kill those penalties was the best part of the game.

Severson needs to get benched. Hayes needs to get waived. Lovejoy needs to get lost in the woods somewhere so Hynes cant put him in and use a shit excuse as to why he sat the most consistent defenseman on the team right now, for Lovejoy. Noesen needs to play.

The PP and the PK (even though it was okay tonight) need major work, especially the PP.

Calling it: the most unwatchable game of the season will be 3/24, when we're home vs Tampa Bay the day after returning from a two-week, Tennessee-Nevada-California-Pennsylvania roadtrip. Awful scheduling.
