Rossi now saying Arizona or Anaheim as potential hockey trade partners. Dunno if I believe it, but does at least give a direction for meaningless conversation.

edit: On second thoughts those are two obvious places that might trade a goalie.
It looks like Arizona is trying to pick up picks, we have how many even worth moving at this point? Hextall seems to actually enjoy drafting and keeping prospects so I don't know how reliable it is unless it's something boneheaded like Jarry for Keumper.

It's Arizona... a complete dumpster fire at the moment. I honestly expect a bounce back. Not sure he can get much worse. Exactly how much better, remains a good question. He's young and healthy though, so I expect better things than the alternatives they traded.

I would say on Buchnevich, Zucker is worth a 2nd without the prospect. Pettersson...no idea given the market but I'd take a 2nd or a 3rd. To be honest, unless the conversation is "how much are you paying us to take Pettersson (which I don't think it is)" I would take just about any offer not involving money coming back. I expect a Kahun-Maatta like deal on one.

Is Vancouver really any better though? He's gonna be blocked #1PP time by Hughes, No help on that Dcore for him defensively.

Also, Chychrun has looked way better than OEL has ever looked playing on the same dumpster fire.

I don't think Benning grasps much at this point. Just another string of awful moves.
I was talking to a mate at work about the deal just to poke the bear as it were...

"?!?!?!?!
YOU KNOW WHO CONOR GARLAND IS RIGHT!?
Also OEL only 30.
We got rid of Erickson*, Beagle, and Roussel
Gave up our 1st which isn't going to be an impact player in this draft.
And 2nd + 7th next year, which isn't deep draft again
Also Arizona retains prat of OEL salary
Benning did soooo well
OEL is being brought here for his offense we got too many defensive defencemen
That was the conversation, basically his reaction. I just sat here sipping my coffee like ok mate, you do you.

I mean he is a good player but you have to ignore every other aspect of the deal. Plus they won't be able to afford him next year without letting other good players go.

You see that deal and then you look at their cap space, which is what, 18-19m when they buy out Virtanen?

They still need to re-sign Garland, Pettersson, and Hughes and the last 2 are going to combine for close to 19-20m themselves with Garland looking at 4.5-5m/yr at least. Then Boeser is an RFA next year, lol.

Benning doesn't quite grasp how the Cap works. The Demko 5m/yr deal was him getting super horned out way too early as well.

Why did we have to create Seattle* when they should have just relocated Arizona? I mean... shit... I know that sounds like a really garbage thing to say as a Penguin fan who had to go through that same uncertainty years ago but when is enough enough with that dumping ground?

*(Oh that's right... 100M in expansion fees for the owners)

Also please please be true on the team being interested in shopping Zucker.

My body is ready

Since it’s obvious we are going back down into lockdown mode if you read the politricks cards lately, I could totally see Anaheim dumping salary this season because California is the land of fear porn.

I could see Gibson and Deslauriers coming here.

I love Jarry here, but if we can get Gibson, a hometown lad, you go for it.

Gibson has been one of the best goalies in the league for years, stuck in a whack ass Mickey Mouse town.

I mean that other line-up posted, too many right handed shots there. I think Rust would be the one going to Anaheim in that deal, maybe adding a cup winner veteran that can help their young C's with his consistency as of the last couple of years and durability. Zegras with Rust would be fun for them, but the rest of that deal would need to be more.

Jarry, Rust, Poulin would likely be gone, for Gibson. Could Hextall get Gibson without dumping a 1st?

The real question is could Hextall get rid of all of these players without taking a dump?

I'm ok with 32 teams, same as the NFL.

NBA and MLB survive with 30. But the issue with Arizona is that they're just in a good market and never have been. I've lived in Seattle/Bellevue for a number of years, Hockey is definitely something that will do well there. The market is also very close to a bunch of very good youth hockey hot beds as well (Seattle, Spokane, Portland, then Vancouver/BC in general, California and their 3 teams + Vegas).

Arizona is just being ambitious about the reach of the sport but incredibly stupid on the BOG's part.

I beg no former pens coming. I thank them for their previous contributions, but NO

Fleury is 37 on an insane cap hit
Kessel has lost his hunger and is of zero interest
Horny, god bless his soul, is pointless
Staal would be WAY too expensive and is on too much money
I could go on, but just no plz
