Meh. This is such a "will be waived to AHL to void salary come the middle of the second month of the season".

Absolutely disagree. Flames fans wanted him back, especially at this salary/cap hit. He's a very useful 4th liner with a bit of a scoring touch and is a wiz on the PK.

He's a legit NHL-caliber 4th liner who might actually be our 13th forward starting out.

They seem to have a pretty high opinion of his pk ability so he'd have to be pretty atrocious to be sent down that early. Especially given that Ralph is all about giving guys chances to learn to play together, I can't imagine he'd give up after a month or two

Could surprise and score 15 - 20 goals
Based on what? The fact that he scored 13, 14 and 16 goals when he was with the Coyotes playing on a team with virtually no forward talent, forcing him into a role in the lineup that he will hopefully never sniff with Buffalo? If Rieder ends up averaging 17 minutes per game, like he did on those Coyotes teams, then the Sabres are probably going to have some problems.

You mean like in 2014-15 when we got excited about Girgensons being a scorer with Ted Nolan playing him 19 min/game? lol

Rieder was another player for the Coyotes. I follow Rieder since his youth times. His biggest strength was his speed. He could have easily scored more goals as those 16.
But sadly he had a injury that slowed him down. Since that time he isnt the same anymore. Without that injury, im sure he could be a good 2nd line player.
