#Habs advise that Ryder takes back his old 73 and Gallagher will now wear 11. Fitting that a tenacious, skilled player will again sport 11.

I think Desharnais changed his number.
Didn't Plekanec also change his number during the season?

But I meant during a season that has already started. Desharnais changed it after his short rookie stint and Plekanec changed it after Bonk left.

according to www.playerswhochangednumbersduringtheseason.com this is the 27th time in NHL history

link doesn't work for some reason

Think Ryan O'Byrne did it from 3 to whatever his number was after

You're right, I forgot about that.

To be honest, if there's one guy on the team that I'm happy he wears #11, it's Gallagher.

Same. I would have been happy with it being unofficially retired after Koivu left. But Gallagher is a great guy to wear it

Now the real question is.. when are the Canadiens gonna give #94 to chuck?

I know it's common practice in the NFL for vets to BUY the numbers that they want. I remember Jeff Feagles doing it a few times with the Giants (With Plax if I remember correctly). Wonder if Ryder slipped the rook 5-10 K to help with the decision...

I thought Desharnais switched it during the season. I was wrong. Same for Plekanec.
Besides O'Bryne... don't think it happened.

I'm sure Gally would have choose #11 if he could have when he first started, so I think this works out for everybody.

Now, hopefully he can make us forget the most recent wearer of #11...

An undersized forward with the heart of a lion wearing number 11 on the montreal canadiens......back to the good old days.

Gally is probably glad this gave him an opportunity to switch to his real number. Without Ryder coming in, I doubt he would have asked to switch any time this season (maybe next). This way he gets his real number without the risk of coming off as entitled.

Chucky would probably have done the same to #94 if another #27 was traded here... can't think of who that would be though... :sarcasm:

Exactly why i'm not purchasing a new jersey of these kids until next year when they settle with their number. I still think Galchenyuk will change his as well to 94

Did Plek wear #35 at a certain moment ?

Certainly did.
