I remember reading about Grabner stats mainly goals were inflated. Although I question why he was used so little by the NJD in the playoffs. Only 2 games? Hmm..

For what? Most teams are already close or at the cap floor, so no one is really dying to take on salary from that end.

Oilers will have to give up something valuable to get cap space.

What's done is done, we've been stupid in handling our cap, we made this bed now we can lie in it for a year. Hopefully by next summer the cap has risen and maybe with one less on their deals it's easier to move one of Sekera or Lucic or both.

Garbner is unfortunate that Alain Vingeault hasnt decided on a new team yet. Without him he is a 3rd liner, still good.

Indications are he wants to play in the NYR region and I'm not sure if the primary focus we should have when looking for McDavid partners is how many goals they can score playing with McDavid, they should be there to compliment McDavid's game and elevate the line as a whole. Grabner is a master of the fast break counter attack, not puck retrieval and corner work which is what we'd likely want in a 3rd man on the RNH-McDavid line.

I still contend that finding Drai a duo partner for his line is more important than finding a 3rd wheel for McDavid's line.

Without looking at the fancy stats, I'd be interested in Grabner as a PK'er. Use him and McDavid together and other teams would have to be careful while on the PP. That being said, I still view him as a 3rd liner that will likely be overpaid in FA.

And of course we need at least a couple of wingers. Neal, maroon, grabner, perron, etc. Lots of options.

And, if we're dreaming, Drai+ something small for Karlsson with an extension of course. And then a C like Bozak as a replacement.

If we're dreaming? No way do I trade Drai for a defenseman without getting a C back, especially since we just drafted Bouchard.
