What do you want in return for Myers?

My preference would be either a 2/3C or a 2019 pick +.

I am happy with a 1st, doesn't matter which year this next or even 2020 for that matter. Anything more than that would be gravy for me.

Petan requires waivers this year. So does Dano.

We can't afford the 1 mil in bonus overage the next year when we are really up against the cap. There will be some additional losses for injury. We can hope that will be small but it is pretty safe to say it will be more than zero.

I have us at just about 2 mil over without injuries.

Klefbom was all kinds of amazing in 16-17. If there is a shadow of that Klefbom left in him, he will absolutely be a top pairing guy going forward. Getting him for Myers and stuff... that's a pipe dream.

15OA is more likely than 10OA. I think Fla fans are looking for a more defensive player but you don't make trades with fans. Tallon might like Myers. I'd add Dano. Not so sure about Petan.

I'd be pretty surprised if the Jets made a trade tonight. As has been said they could probably get better value for Myers or Perrault later on, even waiting until February (if they have the cap space), and I feel like they might prefer to have some other key players (Trouba) re-signed before they start making big long term changes to the team that just got to the final 4.

One thing to keep in mind is that we have to cut someone loose. We cannot keep everyone and survive the second wave of the cap crunch in 19-20 with all the bonus overage we would be on the hook for. Now, it is up for debate whether trading that someone at the draft is the best option, but if it's somebody with a year left on his deal, this is the best time to maximise their trade value.

I don't know that is actually true. 1st round draft picks never hold more value than they do on the draft floor and it's much rarer for one to be traded (exception is if a team has 2 and is going for more assets by dropping a few spots). It's weird that players that get traded at the draft don't seem to be as valuable as they are at the deadline (when talking about upcoming UFAs).
