The dumping isn't on Maurice unless you heard him say he prefers that game - I've never heard that.
More likely we dumped due to lack of options after being pinned in our own end for the majority of the shift based on a lack of effort / defensive drive in our own end.
And we know that Maurice didn't suggest less effort.

That comes from a lack of a robust breakout and break in strategy. It is also a tendency of our team to constantly reload in the nz before attacking which gives teams time to set up. We reload most often due to wanting enough guys to be able to get in on the forecheck. That happens far too often for it to be anything other then the direction of the coach.

Most of our designed plays are based around dump ins akd the cycle. The Morrissey slap shot around the boards to a striking player is one of our most used plays. As is the the short chip with a second man in close proximity to support the play. Another often used play is skating it in and then button hooking before sliping it in to the corner to start the cycle.

There is very little in the way of organized transition plays that take advantage of the teams skill and speed. If you watch Boston they attack in layers. A smart play would be overloading with our dmen to create a seem to Laine or one of our shooters slightly trailing the play.

yea he should explore all his options for sure. but he can't really get into that until the week prior to UFA right?

Officially...

“Clubs are permitted to discuss their potential interest in, as well as the general parameters of, a potential future contractual relationship with another Club’s pending RFA or UFA during the applicable ‘interview periods,’ but Clubs may not enter into any agreements, or make any binding offers, promises, undertakings, representations, commitments, inducements, assurances of intent, or understandings of any kind, express or implied, oral or written, concerning the terms of a potential SPC with another Club’s pending RFA or UFA.”

Beginning on June 23rd, at exactly 12:00 AM ET, teams may begin talking to unrestricted free agents. This is one day after the conclusion of the NHL Draft, when teams can wholly shift their focus over to the free agent market. Three days later, on June 26th, teams may also start contacting restricted free agents.

Unofficially... people talk...
