Still raw. That said, I will be surprised if he's not on the opening day roster next season. They may also sing some cheap vets. Even somebody like Phill Kessel could be an upgrade on Yamamoto.
Sorry but Yamamoto is better at forechecking than Phil Kessel at this stage of their careers. Yamamoto is no 2nd line scorer right now but he's good at winning puck battles and that's why players like Leon want him on their lines. He's valuable in that area of the game

The zone starts and competition quality has declined for Nurse, who has seen a 2-3% increase in o-zone starts and has played less with McDavid's line since Ekholm arrived (which means less against other top lines usually).

Though he still plays the toughest overall minutes on the Oilers, Ekholm-Bouchard has taken the cherry offensive roles as they've promoted and contributed offensively at a level that no Oilers defense pairing has since 08-09.

Essentially playing less with McDavid's group has meant they're playing a grittier game against grittier players and with better checkers like Bjugstad and Janmark. That suits Ceci a lot more.
Nurse has also gotten better defensively but his offensive game has gotten better as well

Pretty much this.

Nurse never needed his minutes reduced, he needed his quality of competition reduced

Or his d-partner changed tbh.

Nurse without Ceci, even with the most difficult zone starts and comp in the conference (which was true for a while) had WAY better numbers.

It's Cody Ceci, not Darnell Nurse, that has struggled this year.

Nurse had an excellent season this year, sincerely.

For all the talk about his contract his play is not far off from his pay grade (Dom's model tends to overvalue players by 1 or 2 million but still).

Is Bouchard playing himself out of town?

I mean he starts to look like the teams no1 defenseman of the future.

But with the playoffs he is having and if they advance and he keeps this up… it will get very expensive?

Do you think there is an offersheet risk? That someone takes a gamble? For example a team that drafts Bedard and wants the Bouch bomb at the point… and has plenty of cap space?

No, but he takes us out of acquiring Karlsson

Yammamoto, unless he pulls a 180 here, has written his ticket out this summer.
