If he's so bad defensively why does he lead the Devils forwards in PK minutes along with Zajac? Those two had the most PK minutes per game by a large margin amongst NJ forwards last year. Chiasson was 11th in PK TOI per game for the Oilers last year, and also had a good portion of his goals on the PP. Very different players IMO.
Zajac and Coleman had the worst +/- numbers on their teams. They were exposed heavily 5v5.

Cool he is a low offense decent defensively PK specialist. 3/4th line guy. That's not something you move Yamamoto.

They had to take on top lines for the most part because Hershier wasn’t ready for that. +/- on a bottom 5 team doesn’t mean a heck of a lot. The fact Coleman scored so many ES goals against tough competition is impressive though. Also led their forwards in hits, blocks, and 2nd in takeaways.

I’d deal Yamo and a cap dump (Manning) for him without thinking twice. He’s a player that really caught my eye every time I watched the Devils last year.

Man Peter Chiarelli is laughing.
Manning as a cap dump doesn't lower Yamamoto's value enough to only be worth an average low offense 3rd liner. Don't mind him as a target per say, but like...Safin, 3rd, Manning...not Yamamoto Manning.

What forward would you expect in for a Yamo + Manning trade? A couple names please.

Manning cap hit isn't that huge especially if he gets bought out by the other team. So why would we throw away one of our top prospects to get rid of garbage Manning?

Is there anyone you'd offer sheet at 2M per that you might actually have a shot at getting?

Compensation would be a 3rd round pick?

I don't have names because I haven't thought of moving them in a pairing. I just know that A) I don't believe his value is low enough to move him for a 3rd liner who had a good year, or B) If that's the best return then you simply don't do it

Because overpaying for an average 3rd liner in what was probably his career year is somehow a good thing
