Trades? For the Oilers?

No trades. Just a bit of tinkering and a player at 14 who won't play for a few years.

Archibald / McDavid / Kassian
RNH / Drai / Yam
Chaisson/ Haas/ Ennis
Khaira/ Neal / Benson

Nurse /Bear
Jones / Larsson
Russell / Bouchard /Benning

This will be the roster more or less.
I’ll guarantee you that this won’t be the lineup. The Oilers have some money to spend and it’ll get spent.

Would minesota be willing to do neal 10% retained and AA and for Rask and Dubnyk
Overpaid 3c + overpaid 1B for overpaid 3lw/pp specialist and a youngish forward who plays fast like Guerin is looking for?

I don’t think anyone wants to be the team retaining on both Lucic and Neal.

For half a season, it’s pretty much whatever. We have more space the following year which will allow us to position ourselves better.

Is San Jose gonna roll with Dubnyk and Jones platooning the net?

What a weird paradigm shift with teams running two starting goalies now. I get it keeps them fresh and with goalie injuries seeming to be increasing, it makes sense.

I think teams are preparing for a massively compressed schedule next season with lots of back to backs where they’ll need two goalies.

Jones has been horrendous the last 2 years, like .896 sv%, plus Dubnyk is only owed $2.5M cashe for this year, so it might make sense to have someone stronger to support Jones, plus the Sharks aren't really in a position to "rebuild" given the contract structure.

I wouldn't really say a .906 SV% with the easiest xGA/60 in the league over the past two seasons is any better for Dubnyk.

So this Josh Brown going for a 4th round pick should bode well for Holland getting decent returns for KRussell and Benning if he decides to move them right?

Neither are going anywhere if Klefbom has surgery.

Barring a miracle trade or a terrible gamble on our depth: Laggesson, Jones, or Broberg; it's all hands still on deck.

I do believe that lineup would get your ass kicked.

Yes, that could be. I think 1260 had someone on (McLennan?) talking about how the league could be doing triple header mini-series like baseball, just spread out over more days obviously to limit travel.

They both haven't been very good, that's for sure. I'd still like to get Hertl from them but he's likely off limits.

The team is probably going to prepare for a year without Klefbom. I could see Benning not being qualified and we end up keeping Russell as insurance.

Maybe, but they're desperate to still win right now, honestly.

Agreed, I wasn't suggesting Dubnyk was a great option, just that's likely the logic, also the lower financial and acquisition cost.

People shouldn't be shocked about Markstrom putting Edmonton on his 'no fly zone.' Cut his North American life in South Beach, did time in Rochester and Utica, to live in Vancouver, arguably one of the most beautiful cities pretty much anywhere.

He's a big timer and no way his car or he would survive winter in Oil Country:

I think they’ll still look to move Russell. As it sits now if Klef is out for the year I’ve got this as the template for the defense:

Nurse-Bear
xxxx-Larsson
Jones-Benning
Lagesson

They need to find a partner for Larsson and I don’t think it’s Russell. Brodie would make a ton of sense, and I wonder if they’d maybe consider bringing in Andy Greene as a one year stopgap to pair him back up with Larsson and try to bring back their success from NJ.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Lagesson sign in Sweden and unlike our other guys there I thought he didn't have an out clause in his contract. He shouldn't be available to us as a depth option and I think it's probably for the best we're probably better off with some veteran cover for Jones.

edit: Nevermind found out he does have an out clause on google, I think I read on twitter he didn't get one.

If no miracle trade it's probably best if the Oilers keep both Benning and Russell.

I wanted Russell moved for cap relief but with Klefbom likely out you have to keep em both.
