What would Murray have to add to Kane for Tanev? I know he'd be expensive.

I think Bogo is gone in the expansion.

If not Bogo, I think Kane gets exposed. Better to trade him than lose him and keep Bogo, who we can probably upgrade for the same cost.

I agree upgrading Bogo is a better alternative.

I still think Nelson is a capable 6RHD. A 7D is an off-season signing, but we don't even dress 7D for some dumb reason. Defense needs to be a draft focus though.

Tanev is generally accepted as a 1D, shutdown dman - what keeps him from being an upper tier 1D is he provides little offense.

Not really. He's considered a #2 that should be playing with a #1.

HF agrees with you but I guess it's the definition of 1D that affects things - there are 30 teams and how many dmen in the league are considered legit 1D's and not just guys playing 1D as their team's top dman?

I'd love a Kulikov/Tanev pairing. Then move Bogo to Vegas after the season.

I'd rather see a Kulikov-Risto tandem supported by McCabe-Tanev.

Tanev doesn't sniff Reinhart. Vancouver would never get that unless buffalo was desperate to move Reinhart because of contract negotiations broke down.

Yeah. It feels like he's just throwing it away and our play from there is to survive the counterattack and hope his D partner is the guy who recovers the puck next time.

Just because there are 30 teams doesn't mean there are 30 "true" #1 all-around D-men. Precisely the reason they're so valuable is because not every team has one.

Valsic and Hjalmarsson aren't on the same tier. Hammer is a very good 2/3, but Vlasic is a top-tier defenseman. Legit #1. I'd say Tanev is more Hjalmarsson than Vlasic.

Yup, though it doesn't surprise me to see Vlasic with Hammer, he's very underrated by many.

Not a chance he would. Canucks fans are really high on Tanev but he's a jack of all trades master of nothing defenceman. On a stanley cup team he anchors a second pairing.

Eichel is sorely missed by Reinhart.

Ennis looks good, needs linemates that can move their feet and find open spaces.
Girgensons doesn't look so good.

Okposo and O'Reilly need a LW'er that will stick.

Moulson season looking better this season.

Larsson, Foligno and Gionta look good together, again.

The defense is coming along.

Goaltending is stabilizing.

More time and more chemistry is needed.

Murray's not done adding pieces, cause if he is we are in trouble.
