I'd do Girgensons for Fowler, ANA has no leverage - would not give them more.

I don't think Anaheim can take on much salary. Girgensons is looking to rebound, and he fits the Ducks' structure and style. This year's salary looks right, but he's an RFA after the season. A big year puts Anaheim back into a bind next off-season.

I'd throw Anaheim a deal with prospects about to make the jump. I'd dangle Justin Bailey and a 2017 1st rounder and see where negotiations go from there. I'd offer up Carrier and Baptiste if needed, and keep Asplund and Pu in reserve as futures to sweeten the deal.

I'd also offer that same kind of deal to Minnesota for either Scandella or Brodin.

Capfriendly's got him at $2.3M for a buried contract. Saving about $1M.

I'd take on Stoner as a deal sweetener.

Since they are a budget team, they just don't want to have to cut him his $3.25M worth of checks this season.

And I don't think the Sabres have the cap space to take on Stoner (even buried) and Fowler.

I don't see the comparison.

Leddy was a bottom pairing/PP guy with fairly easy minutes behind a dynamic top 4 in Chicago at the time he was traded. Fowler is an all situations dman who led all Ducks' dmen in ice time last year. He's also signed for two more years at great value.

Fowler's the most likely Duck to be traded so we shall soon see what he does return.

It's a 1-way contract. There's no savings in real money, just cap.

Regarding Stoner. If he was traded, would he have to clear waivers again on his new club in order to go to AHL?

No. If he cleared he could be traded and then assigned to the AHL (provided he hasn't been on an NHL roster for 30 days or played in 10 NHL games in the meantime)

Yesterdays article in THL by Richardson referenced Fowler to the Sabres, thats what got me thinking about this. I still think this is a pipe dream, no chance that some miracle happens and we open the season with Risto AND Fowler on the blueline. This is Buffalo, these things would never happen to us.

The real pipe dream involves also moving one of Franson or moulson otherwise both risto and Fowler is a cap world pipe dream.

Cam Fowler has been an Olympic defenseman. He's played on the top pair. He has an all-around better pedigree at this point today than Leddy did when he was traded. Nick Leddy was a young bottom-pair PP specialist when he was traded. He was on the last year of his contract when he was traded.

True.

2 years later tho..I'd rather have Leddy than Fowler.

Talk about bipolar, the hockey world was calling the Sabres real up and comers, and now it seems like every 2016-17 prognosticator is actually picking us to regress.

They're wrong, unless injuries do us in.

Ennis Franson for Fowler Stoner

So Anaheim gives up the best player in the deal, saves less than $1m in salary obligations this season, and adds $3.7m in salary for a mid-line, one-way winger with concussion history in 18-19?

I'm going to guess Anaheim makes a hard pass on that offer.

Leddy isn't available. You wanting him more than Fowler is pretty irrelevant.

I was only remarking about what a difference 2 years makes given how Paxon laid out their careers to that point.
