We went from no injured players to 3 injured so quickly. One of Vey or Toffoli will have to be sent back down as soon as Carter comes off IR right?

Lines at today’s skate:

Dustin Brown – Anze Kopitar – Justin Williams
Dwight King – Mike Richards – Tyler Toffoli
Daniel Carcillo – Trevor Lewis – Matt Frattin
Kyle Clifford – Linden Vey – Colin Fraser – Jordan Nolan

Jake Muzzin – Drew Doughty
Robyn Regehr – Slava Voynov
Willie Mitchell – Alec Martinez

i would like to see Vey take the #3C spot over Lewis. give the kid some linemates he can work with and possibly produce some points. no way Lewis will produce any, so play him in the #4C slot for what he provides - energy

Vey should be 3c. Hoping Nolan doesn't get sat for Fraser.

As long as Vey is at C and it's Clifford/Nolan, I don't see it as a huge step down from Carcillo/Frattin. Nolan has looked pretty dang good out there when he is in.

Knowing Sutter, he'll have Vey at wing and Fras at center.

Overall I like the lines, longterm I'm hoping Lewis and Vey can lock down those bottom 2 center positions.

Gm's are complaining that cap space is the biggest hurdle for trades right now.

You have to trade dollar for dollar , most teams can't right now...

trade deadline this season may be very quiet as a result. there is only so much/many situations where teams will move player/and their payroll.

you look at the top 16 teams by payroll and think of 16 teams making the PO's, well.....when only 4 teams in the top 16 of payroll have ANY open cap space. there just isn't much that can be done. those 4 teams have little wiggle room right now, not much to go get 1 or 2 difference makers for PO run

1. Detroit » LTIR $0 $700,455 $700,455
2. Washington LTIR $0 $1,266,689 $1,266,689
3. San Jose » LTIR $0 $1,335,000 $1,335,000
4. Philadelphia »LTIR $0 $2,329,573 $2,329,573
5. Boston » LTIR $0$2,790,833 $2,790,833
6. Carolina » LTIR $0 $3,084,424 $3,084,424
7. Anaheim » LTIR $0 $3,257,726 $3,257,726
8. Tampa Bay » LTIR $0 $3,461,708 $3,461,708
9. Pittsburgh » LTIR $0 $3,835,000 $3,835,000
10. Toronto » LTIR $0 $5,565,833 $5,565,833
11. Los Angeles » $18,072 $22,590 $90,359
12. Vancouver » LTIR $145,579 $2,131,974 $2,677,897
13. Columbus » $244,309 $305,387 $1,221,547
14. St. Louis » $289,679 $362,099 $1,448,397
15. Chicago » $550,085 $687,607 $2,750,427
16. N.Y. Rangers » $620,717 $775,896 $3,103,584

this is by no means an accurate assessment, but it provides a good snapshot of how tight cap is with most teams.

what isn't all that surprising and is scary based on their record so far....COL

30. Colorado » $12,358,762 $15,448,452 $61,793,809

over $12M in cap space for them to play with

Colardo has 12 million in cap space now but the real number they can really work with is much lower. Half their team is either RFA or UFA next year and they will have to give a bunch of raises. And that doesn't include Landeskog or Duchene whose big money contracts don't start till next year. If they wanted to make a big Stanely cup run this year they could stock up on a ton of rentals though.

If they trade for rentals, they can add a lot more than 12 mill

Its a tough market right now I guess, so a lot of the deals that are happening make sense. I dunno, it seems like such a fickle thing, kind of like the stock market...
