I'm interested in what they'll do with the point on the PP. I think Percy got some time in the last preseason game. But Rielly-Gardiner looked pretty good together too.

It wouldn't suprise me is Kozun mimic the kind of offensive numbers Clarke MacArthur put up for us a few seasons ago. He's an offensive minded guy who's a great skater and should mesh well with what Lupul and Kadri bring.

I am excited to see what he will be able to do over the next few weeks/months. Have a feeling he is going to impress.

I have mixed feelings about this. I believe that when you overpay players they become harder to move and thus reduce cap flexibility. It is also harder to pay future players according to their real ability if they see lesser players paid more.

Reilly will want big bucks because that is how the Leafs pay their players even if they don't quite deserve it. He will rightfully compare himself to Gardiner. Kardi will also want to cash in.

IMO the team needs to pay the players based on what they really are, not based on what their counterpart on a cup contender would get.

I hope that was clear...it is a bit tricky to grasp what I mean I suspect.

I don't think anyone on HF would disagree with this...

Deeper bottom six for the Leafs this season - it's unfortunate that Booth is injured again, but he could be that guy that comes back and feels like a mid season trade for the Leafs.

Not going to lie, I'm expecting 0 things out of Booth. If the preseason is any sort of an indication, he'll be no more effective than he was last year.

I'm hoping to see some more Marlies push for spots.

I would be ok with resigning Reilly for 5yrs @ $4m per after his ELC is up, assuming he doesn't immediately stop progressing.

Maybe he never got top six minutes in the Kings system?

nah, he was always top two lines with the monarchs. he did drop to third line duty with the contending marlies, though.

How do you know that? I've never been able to find ice time stats for the AHL ... any sites you can recommend?

there's no time on ice stats but from looking at their ppgs they seemed to always have a pretty clear top six and bottom six. they would have had tobput some pretty terrible offensive players in their top six to push him down to the third line,

Fair enough. Looking at the ppg stats for those teams, he ranks well against the rest of the team. Maybe they were just low scoring/defensively-oriented teams? There are other fairly highly rated prospects in there below a ppg.

Just suggesting that maybe his AHL stats aren't the end all of predicting his NHL performance.

Robidas says he had interest from seven or eight teams. Didn't know if there would be any given his leg. Leafs pushed hard for him.

If Booth is on LTIR then they don't need to send someone down to make it to 23-players.

They could just wait and keep Leivo/Ashton on the roster at 23-players and then demote whichever of Frattin/Leivo/Ashton is the most expendable when Booth is ready to return.

I'm not sure why they would want to go with a 22-man roster instead...

Why waste cap space with a 23rd guy?

12 F + 6 D + 2 G = 20 men.

3 Extra guys is crazy. For home games don't even bother with anything more than 20, your AHL team is in your town.

Are you sure Bozak is worse than the 2C on those teams?

TOR: Tyler Bozak 2013-14 Point per 60M: 2.42

CHI: Brad Richards: 2.00
NYR: Derek Stepan: 2.31

SJ: Joe Pavelski: 2.91
ANA: Ryan Kesler: 1.54
EDM: Marc Arcobello: 1.75

DAL: Tyler Seguin: 3.26
DET: Stephen Weiss: 0.63
NYI: Mikhail Grabovski: 2.30
L.A.: Mike Richards: 1.77
STL: David Backes: 2.37

For all of those players JvR/Kessel is a decent to massive upgrade over their current wingers.
