Rangers would be better out buy out certain players of their own with the extra (almost) 5m from Backes for a year.

Get assets and get him back, very unlikely scenario same as trading Kreider and him resigning.

If the Leafs either dont make the playoffs or get knocked out in the 1st round they will revisit their goaltending situation.

Jets are looking to upgrade on their top 4 and/or center position.

I also said it was my dream scenario.

Looks like Kap will be long gone before the offseason for a Dman. Jets there is a potential match but after getting owned on Hayes/Trouba do you really think they’ll deal with us again so soon?

The Rangers are more competitive than they were last year. The team makeup is also different. Circumstances are different, especially with the youth. Some of the youngsters are in there 2nd and 3rd years. DQ’s 2nd year. Panarin having an MVP caliber type season. They are going to continue to play Kreider, they want to compete. He will play until the last minute or a team shows up with an offer early that they cannot refuse.

$7M is more than fair for Kreider. Stop lumping him in with Staal and Girardi.

He'd also would earn that money come playoff time.

Cut the dead weight. Staal, Smith, HL ( unfortunately )
Skjei and Buch could be replaced by cheaper options.
Keep Strome for 1 more year and sell off next year depending on the development of Chytil
