@RangerBoy just said it before the thread closed, but Brannström would be a “foundational” piece for Kreider. I could live with it.

Lias up again, let's hope he does better than before All though his rather piss poor showing in the minors should raise some eyebrows..

Not angry. By any means. Could careless about your whining about the team doing the same things for over 20 years even though we had managed to make a SCF and (2) ECF appearances with the last group we put together, which btw did not include any top 10 1st round picks. We had made the playoffs for 8 consecutive years in that time.

Sign young players? That is what you will allow for? Sign all young players. Let’s talk when those “young” players hit free agency to be signed. And what constitutes a “young” free agent? Under 25? ****iny laughable and unreasonable. Got it so we should not sign anyone at all to supplement all the young kids we have. OR sign crap veterans on shorter term deals because they will cost les BUT will have us be the Oilers where the young kids never experience winning and get abused year in and year out during the crucial years of their development. Bring on the Patrick Maroons of the world!

Oh wait we can offer sheet players! Lets offer sheet Marner and forfeit multiple 1st round picks! That will certainly help the rebuild! Offer sheet Marner or Laine. Thats it! Thats the plan. How could I have not seen this is the path all along.

Your guess as to what the right path is as good as anyones here. You have one team to lean on that truly tanked and had success and that was Pittsburgh, who was literally gift wrapped Crosby by Bettman to save that pathetic city and franchise. One Example.

I wont complain about the contracts. Just like drafting there is risk involved. Im not upset about the Staal contract. Wasnt upset about Richards. Not upset about Shattenkirk. Wasnt upset about Stepan or McDonagh either.

You are quite clearly angry if your writing style is any indication of the actual language you're intending to use. But I'll entertain.

Consider key players on past cup winners and where they were drafted:

2018 - Capitals - Ovechkin (#1), Backstrom (#4)...also Kuzy and Carlson both late 1st rounders.
2017 - Pitt - Obvious - doesn't need to be listed
2016 - Pitt - See above
2015 - Chicago - Kane (#1), Toews (#3)
2014 - Kings - Doughty (#2), Kopitar (#11)
2013 - Chicago - See above
2012 - Kings - See above
2011 - Bruins - The only team that fits your agenda
2010 - Chicago - See above
2009 -Pens - See above

Of the past 10 cup winners, there has been one team that achieved it without a top 2 draft pick playing a major role.

Chicago had Kane and Toews.
Kings had Doughty.
Wash had Backstrom+OV.
Hell, even the Bruins had Seguin.

Literally every single cup winner since like 2009 had a top 3 pick on their roster. Most had multiple.

Try again.
Bruins didnt tank to get Seguin.
How long did it take for Washington?
Kings tanked how many years? Did they even intentionally tank? They a lot of other moves go their way to win.

Chicago is the other legitimate case. But they added veterans to them to round out their talent.

I am not saying to abandon the rebuild. Do not trade draft picks. Trade some assets, not all, for more draft picks. It is ok to add talent to your youth. For all of the top 10 picks for the last 5-7 years, even top 5, how much of that has resulted in cups? Tanking doesnt always guarantee success.
