@AmerksHockey - GOAALLL!!! Pysyk fires one from the point, and Matt Ellis tips it in on the power-play! #Amerks cut the Griffins lead to 2-1!
@RSandersonWHTK - #Amerks score on the PP - former Griffins captain Matt Ellis gets the tip in front. GR 2 RCH 1 [1st 18:24]
@kevinoDandC - Matt Ellis deep in the slot, redirects a Mark Pysyk point shot up and over the left shoulder of goalie Tom McCollum. #Amerks within 2-1. PPG.
@AmerksHockey - Scoresheet will read Ellis from Pysyk and Grigorenko on the power-play.
@AmerksHockey - That's it for the 1st. Griffins leads the #Amerks in shots (11-8) and goals (2-1). Still 40 mins left in this one!
@RSandersonWHTK - End 1st - Griffins 2 (Miele, Athanasiou) #Amerks 1 (Ellis). SOG - Grand Rapids 11 Rochester 8.

@kevinoDandC -
Gates native Mark Zengerle with a slick pass to send Anthony Mantha in on a partial breakaway but #Amerks G Nathan Lieuwen made the save.
Rookie Anthony Mantha getting a little too comfortable in front of the #Amerks net for Drew Bagnall's liking. A couple post-whistle shoves.
#Amerks D Mark Pysyk, on knees, takes a cross check to the back of the helmet by Anthony Mantha. Referee Chris Ciamaga right there, ignores.
Pretty obvious #Amerks captain Drew Bagnall has been out since November 7. Lots of built-up snarl. Just jousted with Mark Zengerle.
Griffins Anthony Mantha imitates Tom Brady, and hits Julian Edelman, er, Andreas Athanasiou on the arc-through-the-air bomb.
Athanasiou caught the pass, literally, with his hand behind the D, dropped it, sped in on goal. Nathan Lieuwen save.
Landon Ferraro blocks a Chad Ruhwedel point shot and then races away to score a SHG, going top shelf glove side. #Amerks trail 3-1.
Really bad part - Landon Ferraro needed to settle bouncing puck after his block, but Chad Ruhwedel didn't assume immediate defensive posture.

@RSandersonWHTK -
Griffins get a shorthanded goal from Ray's son, Landon Ferraro. GR 3 #Amerks 1 [2nd 19:18]
End 2nd - Griffins [3] #Amerks [1]. SOG - Grand Rapids 15 (26) Rochester 10 (18).

LaxSabre -
Like father like son - Sabres PP - allow a shortie - Amerks PP - allow a shortie - happened late second period - almost at the same time.
Each game made the score the good guys down two - Sabres now down 2-0 - Amerks now down 3-1.

At least theres good news - @AmerksHockey - Intermission Turkey Bowling success!
Fans can enjoy one free voucher to the game on December 17th. Video to come soon!

@MatthewWGR

Welp, Ruhwedel has a shot blocked, then can't recover...turns into a short handed goal

@AmerksHockey

Landon Ferraro fights off Ruhwedel's stick and scores on a partial breakaway while shorthanded. Griffins go up 3-1.

@kevinoDandC - Teemu Pulkkinen snaps a shot from above the RW circle and it clanks off the left post. Still 3-1 Griffins over #Amerks a minute into 3rd.
@kevinoDandC - #Amerks attendance is 4,399.

@AmerksHockey - Phil Varone makes a Griffins defenseman look silly with a nice dangle, but can't chip it past McCollum. Back to even-strength.

@RSandersonWHTK - #Amerks C Tim Schaller just took a slap shot to the right hand and headed straight to the bench.
@kevinoDandC - #Amerks Tim Schaller gets hit in the left hand by a Ryan Sproul slap shot. Ends shift immediately and heads to the bench.

LaxSabre - Amerks down 3-1 - 8 minutes left in the game. Amerks with a couple of power-plays, chances - can't take advantage.
Schaller back on the ice for a Amerks PK - Griffins don't score - there is now 5 1/2 minutes remaining.

@kevinoDandC - William Carrier sets up Johan Larsson for a one-timer from the RW circle but Griffins goalie Tom McCollum gets across and stops it.
#Amerks G Nathan Lieuwen comes out with 1:56 to play. Griffins still lead 3-1.
#Amerks lose 3-1 to the Griffins.

@RSandersonWHTK - Final - Grand Rapids 3 Rochester 1. #Amerks
After starting the season 6-2-0-0, the #Amerks have gone 2-8-1-0 in their last 11 games.
Just one goal scored in the last two games.

LaxSabre - yeesh, I have a bad delay here - I just heard the Larsson scoring chance - must be 3 minutes behind.
Well I'm out - hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Seeya Friday night! (unless I attend the Sabres-Canadiens game.)

Jackals win in a shootout!!!! 4-3. Jackals 3-4. Royals 1-4.

Before Shootout Jackals were 0-3 this year. Royals? 3-0.

Jackals now tied atop the Eastern Conference and ECHL Standings with 23 points. 10 wins. That didn't come until mid December last year or Early January. I forget. Way different team this year. Feels weird to be on top.

@kevinoDandC -

#Amerks captain Drew Bagnall after a 3-1 loss to Grand Rapids: "No games are easy and we're waiting for it to be easy."
#Amerks captain Drew Bagnall was about the only player willing to play physical. "It's a man's game and every battle is the difference."
Coach Chadd Cassidy is pretty sure #Amerks lost every confrontation for a puck. "That's effort level, that's care, that's wanting to win."
The #Amerks have skill but as D Jake McCabe said, "If you don't have the puck, you can't really use that skill, can you?"

Grand Rapids' Mark Zengerle Enjoys Time With Folks In Gates -

The Zengerle house in Gates should have been very quiet - and empty - today. With their youngest son off playing professional hockey for a team in Michigan and their two other sons living in South Carolina, Carol and Paul Zengerle had no intention of staying home for Thanksgiving. They informed J.P. and Matt back in the summer that they'd be coming down to Charleston for the family's holiday turkey feast. Then the American Hockey League intervened.

Mark Zengerle's team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, would be playing the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester Community War Memorial on the Wednesday before and Friday after Thanksgiving. Talk about a Thanksgiving blessing. Travel plans canceled. Stove and oven working overtime. The Zengerle house went from lockdown to holiday central, with Mark making a rare appearance at the dinner table today and family of his former University of Wisconsin teammate enjoying some Rochester-style hospitality for the next few days. "We're excited to have him home," Carol said. "Mark hasn't been home for Thanksgiving for I don't know how long."

I think we've reached the point where vet reinforcements in the form of Strachan and Benoit need to be sent down to Rochester.

Rocky times continue in Roch; Amerks lose 3-1 to Griffins
Matthew Coller

3006647.jpeg

There will be bumps in the road.

On Wednesday night, there were more than a few in the Rochester Americans' 3-1 loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

With the loss, the Sabres' farm team has now won just eight of their first 17 games.

The Amerks struggled - again - to exit the defensive zone, being repeatedly pinned in by the Griffins. Issues with handling the Grand Rapids forecheck led to the first two goals by Rochester's opponents - both of which came within the first four minutes of the game.

Following the game, coach Chadd Cassidy ripped into his club.

"You gotta have some urgency and be willing to play heavy on your stick," he said. "They are going to forecheck hard so you've got to make a play at the puck, then guys have to be ready for the puck when it comes to them. And understand there might be somebody next to you and you have to advance the puck up the ice to somebody else."

@kevinoDandC - #Amerks Joel Armia likely out. Zac Dalpe and Nick Petrecki likely returning - Friday vs Grand Rapids.

Rochester Americans Thanksgiving Day Practice News -

Right winger Joel Armia is doubtful for Friday's home game against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Per coach Chadd Cassidy, Armia was dinged up in Saturday's game at Adirondack.
Felt fine going into Wednesday's game against Grand Rapids but then aggravated the upper-body ailment in the 3-1 loss.
The injury is not related to the wrist problem Armia dealt with for the first half of last season, Cassidy said.

What kind of Pejorative Slur puts big and slow woodhand with zero IQ(Samuel-Thomas) with Grigo and Armia ? He's big and strong, so he does space to his linemates ? Way to go Cassidy. Why the hell that guy is still coaching this team!!!

And the previous thread hits 1000.

So, is the starter job Makarov's or what? Where is Hackett going to end up? Or Lieuwen for that matter... does he get a spell in Elmira to get right?

If many feel Neuvirth has earned the starting job, then I see Enroth traded and they give Hackett the back up spot..

If only had a better coach ( cunner worth where are you). The team would probably be better.

Next year Rochester could be really good...imagine this to start the season:

Carrier-Eichel-Armia
Xxxx-Reinhart-Bailey
Fasching-Compher-Baptiste
