I wonder if Kevin Dineen would consider an AHL coaching job again if he doesn't get one of the NHL vacancies.

Brennan Klak ‏@nhlupdate · 47m
Head coaching positions still available: Carolina, Florida, Pittsburgh, Vancouver

TM wouldn't commit to Chadd Cassidy, but he hasn't replaced him yet either. Dineen has been rumored to go to Carolina but as to wait because they want to talk to Ulf Samuelson who is assistant with NYR.

Not happy about that. Another season of soft coaching and strange lines. At the very least, I know he's big on veteran leadership.

I expected Murray to give him another year to evaluate, if only because Murray came on half way through and the Amerks did make the PO's.

I was hoping that he would bring someone else in, but there's been a ****-ton of coaching changes in the last 2 year in the organization. Makes sense to give the 'kids' some stability.

Cassidy has been around for a season and a half, I think that was plenty of time to evaluate. I just don't see him fixing issues with the team. The constant dumb penalties, especially late games last year, should have been reason enough for him to move on. He's not the worst coach ever, but I don't see our final record changing much next year either.

Development coaches like Chaddddddd don't get evaluated on W/L record.

With Tim Murray not committing to Cassidy at the end of the season, I figured there was a 50% chance he wouldn't be back.

The way that Joe Battista praised Cassidy on radio, I figured there was a 50% chance he would be back.

And Murray had a big hand in the Bingo Calder team, so perhaps he makes this happen for the Amerks too. It'd be nice to see Rochester go deep in the playoffs again.

Murray didn't evaluate him coaching a team of players that Murray had a hand in bringing in either. It will be interesting to see what kind of players are targeted for Rochester this year.

I don't get to see the Amerks play so I don't have an opinion on Cassidy but I guess they liked the job he did near the end of the year and into the playoffs.

Assistant Coach Jay McKee is likely coming to Erie to be the Otters second assistant coach (alongside Vince Laise) to fill the void left by the departure of Chris Hartsburg.

McKee is a former assistant coach, as he was let go in 2012, but good for him nonetheless. He's played the last two years with the Dundas Real McCoys, winning the 2014 Allan Cup.

ah yes, my mistake.

Interesting he's taking this position, it seemed Kingston was interested in hiring him as head coach.

Good news for McKee. He'll always be held in high esteem in these parts. 10 years down the line, he'll get to say he coached the great Connor McDavid. He can give Connor the lowdown on what it's like to play in Buffalo :naughty:

I'm thinking family considerations might played a role if he was choosing between the two. Erie is roughly a 1 hour drive whereas Kingston is roughly 4hrs. With his home in suburban Buffalo and his wife from this area. It makes sense he would want to stay close if he could.

I went to a couple of games in that series. I was 26.

Game 2 for me! (I was 14).

LaxSabre - Even though there is no Stanley Cup Final game being played tonight, Game #4 of the Calder Cup Finals will not be shown LIVE on the NHL Network-United States. 5:00 pm ET-7:00 pm ET - they will be showing their NHL LIVE show. Ok, why not show it on a one hour tape delay then? Nope, gotta replay NHL Tonight-Stanley Cup Final Edition-Game #5 - a dozen or more times throughout the night/next morning.
