He was never "utter crap" lol hes been at least solid the whole season.

You guys do know that defensemen arent perfect and do make mistakes right? Even Weber, doughty, suter? Hell even lidstrom made mistakes every game.

Lidstrom and mistakes used in the same sentence! Such blasphemy! :naughty:

Either way, I think he won't be traded until his contract year. We need him for vet leadership for Rielly and Percy. They'll have their heads on straight with him around.

He's been okay.

His possession statistics are pretty miserable.

I would have rather spent the extra million bucks, which we have, and gotten Ehrhoff.

I have him as slightly below average in my ratings, along with Rielly and better than Gardiner. He struggled initially, but lately he's been fine pretty much every game he's played.

I do agree that fans tend to overstate mistakes made, especially when in comparison to the rest of the league.

Even with an extra million, we wouldn't have gotten Ehrhoff. He wanted contender, we can't offer that.

Still takes a lot of stupid penalties though. I was a fan of the signing from day one and don't think he's been as bad as people have made it seem.

He broke his leg twice last year and missed almost all of training camp -- so a slow start should be expected.

Slightly below average? Robi and rielly? Really? :shakehead

This is the problem with leaf fans and rating leafs dmen, you guys just dont have a clue about the position. In what world are robi and rielly "below" average? What is "average?" Who is above "average?"

Seems to take a lot of punishment from forecheckers. Needs to dodge hits better and also improve overall game... Too many needless penalties that can be avoided.

I agree with this.

In the media, they call that taking a hit to make a play.

I call it, he's still not at NHL speed. He gets beat pretty hard to the outside almost regularly and tries to hold on to a stick just to slow the guy down to get support from his defensive partner.

He makes smaller plays that do help out, but in my opinion not enough to justify 2 more years of this.

I like Robidas. I don't like 3 years of Robidas.

Pretty much this. I like him but will I like him 2 years from now? If he would retire we would still take the cap hit wouldnt we? Anyway, I think it is important either way to have a solid veteran like him in the squad even if he ends up playing a minor role on the blue line later on. Good leader by the looks of it.

It would be nice if you gave actual arguments instead of jumping to calling people clueless.

I mean that when averaging the ratings I've given after each game, Robidas has almost 3 on a scale between 1-5, where 3 is a decent enough game for an NHL D-men, and Rielly is exactly at 3.

Not sure how you seem to see that as a slight against either of them. I'm basically saying they've been fine this season, overall.

He is exactly as advertised a smart courageous veteran. Didn't like 3 years, and I guess that's why he signed. Much more comfortable with him out there rather than Fraser, Cosco or any of the others who have passed through recently. Might be overstated but with all the young D in the organization he provides a gret example.

considering the double broken legs and lack of training camp... i'm pretty happy with what he's shown thus far. he'll get better, much better i'm sure...

Are we just talking about the last 3 games here? Because Robidas was garbage in the first 18 he played. His only good stat is +/- (or 5v5 GF%). He can't shoot, can't skate, doesn't hit much but still takes too many penalties... kind of like Phaneuf without the talent. Maybe his positioning is a little better? That's about all. He doesn't even get tough minutes like Phaneuf and Polak do.

Yeah well in MY imagined ratings Reilly is 5000 (out of 5015)

Agreed. He might prove his worth this year but by year 3 its not gonna be good. Hopefully he retires but undersized D men pushing 40 years is a scary thing

Even if he retires we are stuck with the cap hit.

Our best move is to try and move him in year 2 to someone if we can.

In Hockey all over the world they call it taking a hit to make a play.....it is called courage.

He is playing very well, someone called him below average.....yet he has been on the ice for less goals scored against then any other D man.....that is not below average.
