Stepan has really struggled this year. As has Klefbom.

OEL's contract status makes this a risk for the Oilers.

I think it's intriguing in that neither team would jump at it, but both would consider it.

From what I'm reading over on the ARZ boards, they really dislike Stepan so far this year.

I'm offering what I think would be an upgrade at C for them but a downgrade at D, and the chance to extract some long term value from OEL before he hits FA.

Can't see Arizona doing it, Chayka is't going to deal Stepan after acquiring him over the summer. OEL better then Klefbum don't see the Yotes doing it.

RNH and Stepan are about equal.

Klefbom is not where close to OEL. Oilers need to add a top 6 guy or 1st round pick and a prospect as well

We would need to add for sure. I don't think it would be a major piece but something like a B prospect, Jones or Bear.

Arizona doesn't get substantially younger, nor do they get much in the way of futures in this deal. This would be a strange move from Arizona. If they are going to trade OEL, it signals a pretty substantial shift in their team and I believe they would expect more in the way of future pieces coming their way.

Oilers need to add quite a bit. Probably a Puljujarvi for Phoenix to do it. Not that that’s the gap between the moving pieces. But for Phoenix to move OEL who’s the better player I think thats what it will take.

Derek Stephan has been underwhelming this season and probably the future. Big pass.

OEL can walk after next year and Klef is on a sweetheart deal for the next 4-5 years.
