5 goals in less than 5 games. (Had one hat trick.) Tied with Matthews for the league lead.

Unsustainable hot streak, or a late bloomer finally fulfilling his potential at age 25?

Five goals in less than five games is definitely an unsustainable hot streak.

I've only watched one Hawks game this season, but he looked good in that game.

That's kind of a silly question, isn't it? If it were Alexander Ovechkin, we'd still say it was unsustainable. You aren't going to score a goal a game.

I don't think op meant he was going to go a goal a game, more that he was going to be a consistent goal scorer this season/in the future.

I think his time has come, and he'll put up 20-30 goals for a little while, depending on who he plays with. Closer to 20, i assume.

A modern day John Druce.

PS: 14 goals in 15 games in the 1989-90 playoffs. Scored 3 in his other 38 playoff games.

Lol, more like Marek Svatos like start.

Svatos did score 32 that year in 61 games, but he was quite streaky.

He had 5 goals in the first 3 games of that season, went silent for 9 games then scored 5 in the next 6 games.

Later on, he scored 7 in 8 games (games 29 to 36) and 10 in 11 games (games 41 to 51).

Perhaps most astounding, keeping in mind in 0.52 goals per game production, is the fact that his average ice time was only 13:45 per game.

Well in fairness to Panik, he hasn't ever really been given legitimate investment as a scoring line player. It's a ridiculous statement, but there's an outside chance he could be for real.

he will cool off its up to him to be consistent and change his career

a 25-30 goals season maybe. The abilities were always there with Panik, he might have needed a change of scenery.

Well, for starters, he has plenty of skill, !"but has been on third and fourth lines.

Second, I said closer to 20 than 30, I just made a general range.

Third, it's been done before?? Ever heard of Mike Knuble? Ever seen how good the players Panik is on a line with are?

25-20 would not surprise me, if he sticks in a top 6 role and continues to get PP time. Higher numbers would. He has 5 goals on 7 SOG ...

This is the first time he's actually been given a chance in the role he's in now. Obviously he'll cool off, but I think he can score 20-25 for Chicago.

For a guy who has scored 30 NHL goals in 186 games I wouldn't really classify him as a goal scorer.

A lot of those games were on the 4th line. You're not going to score many goals in that kind of role no matter who you are.

I always saw Panik as a likely 20+ goal scorer if he could get get top 6 minutes and PP time, and was a surprised Babcock didn't want him during last year's tank job. He's not a very good all around player, but he has size, a good shot, and gets himself into decent scoring positions.
