What if Veleno and 6th overall will become elite talent?
Even Veleno will be a star this team won't be good enough. Would love the Wings to become relevant rather sooner than later don't get me wrong.

That why I posted the stats page. 2 PPG in the +1 year is good, but it's not elite. You’re saying Veleno didn’t dominate in juniors this year at almost 2 PPG?

Keep in mind Mantha was also 2PPG player in the Q. I expect Veleno to be good, not elite. Guess it depends on your definition of elite, but I doubt Veleno hits 1 PPG in the NHL.
seems like you confused their draft years with their d+1 years..Veleno did carry that St Johns team, that´s why he finished as their fifth best scorer while playing only 31 games..and he was hovering between 1,9 and 2,0 ppg for the larger part of his d+1 season (2018/19), only to fall to 1,76 ppg in March, when rumours started to surface that he was playing with a leg injury (had only 1 multipoint game in 8 March games)Edit (add): He had 2 ppg for the second half of the season, not the whole season, and was 1 ppg in the playoffs. If he was dominant, he should be able to carry a team, which he couldn't do at St John.
He also led his team in playoff scoringEdit (add): He had 2 ppg for the second half of the season, not the whole season, and was 1 ppg in the playoffs. If he was dominant, he should be able to carry a team, which he couldn't do at St John.
You really consider 6 goals in 31 games as carrying a team? Or 17 pts in 16 playoffs games in the juniors?seems like you confused their draft years with their d+1 years..Veleno did carry that St Johns team, that´s why he finished as their fifth best scorer while playing only 31 games..and he was hovering between 1,9 and 2,0 ppg for the larger part of his d+1 season (2018/19), only to fall to 1,76 ppg in March, when rumours started to surface that he was playing with a leg injury (had only 1 multipoint game in 8 March games)

Don't get me wrong, I think he's gonna be a good player, just tempering the expectations. We go through this EVRY freakin' year, overhyping the prospects expecting them to be superstars. Mantha was more dominant than Veleno, remember the Mantha hype?lead team..check
2 ppg season d+1 season..check
100+points and 40+goals..check
but..but..but..ah, only 6 goals in 2017..
You`re really grasping at straws here to make it fit your narrative, aren`t you, bud?
don`t worry, I`m not expecting Veleno to set the world aflame come next October..he`s got things to prove in the AHL and we certainly won`t be able to evaluate his impact earlier than the 3-4 years, probably later..just being cautiosly optimistic, because he proved what he needed to prove in the CHLDon't get me wrong, I think he's gonna be a good player, just tempering the expectations. My expectation is that he becomes a solid 2C. We can revisit this in 3 or 4 years, because we won't know who's right until then.

Mantha is much more unidimensional than Veleno. Veleno may never be a 1C, but he can be slotted in many different positions. Best yet, he has drive. We go through this EVRY freakin' year, overhyping the prospects expecting them to be superstars. Mantha was more dominant than Veleno, remember the Mantha hype?
Nvm, I saw Kaski, thought you meant Kotkinsalo.Absolutely not.
How did you get that conclusion?
I won't argue with that, I was asked why I don't think he'll be elite. We could be wrong, he may wind up being 1C, but damn, if he winds up being better than Larkin I'd gladly eat crow.Mantha is much more unidimensional than Veleno. Some update.
1.5 years have gone since my last update and how Yzerman has built this team?
Not anymore U25 team, but our organizational players born since 1995.

Seems to be that Yzerman is drawing the "age" line on that point.
Or, more likely, it is a coincidence. AA's time in Detroit was done, no matter his age.
Mantha was signed to be a long term piece with the expectation he'd continue taking steps forward. He did not continue taking steps forward.
