Defence at points + plusminus per game -order

I know it's flawed stat, but who cares, this is pre-season and we are having some pre-season fun. :)

1. D Xavier Ouellet, 5GP, 1+3=4p, 4 shots, +7, 2.20 P+Plus/G
2. RD Mike Green, 4GP, 0+3=3p, 3 shots, +4, 1.75 P+Plus/G
3. RD Nick Jensen, 7GP, 0+5=5p, 8 shots, +7, 1.71 P+Plus/G (maybe Jensen finally becomes that our own Duncan Keith Zetterberg Era has told all the time... :) he looked damn good in games I've seen...)
4. D Brendan Smith, 5GP, 2+2=4p, 5 shots, +3, 1.40 P+Plus/G
5. D Jakub Kindl, 5GP, 1+3=4p, 5 shots, +3, 1.40 P+Plus/G (go Kindl, get your trade value back from the negative side! ;))
6. RD Alexey Marchenko, 7GP, 0+3=3p, 4 shots, +4, 1.00 P+Plus/G
7. D Jonathan Ericsson, 6GP, 1+2=3p, 5 shots, +2, 0.83 P+Plus/G

Who do you think will be the starting goalie for you guys?
I am doing a hockey draft and deciding if I should take Mrazek

Absolutely. And thats not a knock on Nyquist.
If anything it's a compliment. Buff is not getting traded for scraps. You need a good player going back. Nyquist is a good player.

Well at the start it's supposedly a "whoever earns it" sorta thing. But in my opinion, Mrazek wins out by January or February or even earlier.

Howard will start because seniority. Don't draft Mrazek, pick someone else, then pick him up as a free agent when he takes the starting job around December.

You just shouldn't do any conclusions based on pre-season stats, but it really looks that our most promising forward prospects are Larkin, Athanasiou, Mantha and Bertuzzi. They are miles ahead of anybody else and as different player types, it's a very good mix and combination of skill. Svechnikov didn't score a singlepoint in any game, but this was rookie camp for him etc. Next year that guy will be a different man.

Our future TOP9 should consist of those prospects + current five on young roster regulars; Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan, Jurco and Pulkkinen. We don't need skill forwards more in reality. We can draft them more, but use as trade bait. It's time to rebuild the defence now, maybe selling draft picks or other unneeded material.

I think Nosek has been very good. He looks like a third line kind of guy anyway, but I am always really impressed with him.

Basicly, there's no chance for him at offensive 3rd line. Maybe as some temporary guy, but long-term, imo, he is out of plans and only spare part.

For a checking line guy, yes there's a spot.

These guys are really unbeatble:

Tatar - Sheahan - Nyquist
Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha
Svechnikov/Athanasiou - Pulkkinen
Jurco

Future offensive core. Tough to break in for anybody else.

Depends on just how heavy Nosek gets in terms of his playing style. He is very good in the corners and isn't afraid of the net. Really solid possession player. He might not be as sexy as the guys he is competing with but the guy is a really rock solid player with good hands.

We also have no idea how that will all break down. Some of these guys are going to disappear more than likely. We will have to see how it all shakes out. But Nosek has talent, I am curious to see what happens with him.

...signed him out of the Czech league because of his talent. If Detroit doesn't give him a chance, it will be very disappointing.

Personally, I think he's better than Andersson already.

He can play the 4th line just fine, provide a bit of offense, PK and the such.
