If they are talking Drouin, the only reason to scout TBs roster wpuld be if anorher piece is coming back. If thats the case...its prob for salary reasons which means the Flyers would be sending a decent NHL contract to TB. So maybe this wouldn't be a prospect based deal for Drouin.

Idk how to feel.

Have to remember that Yzerman has been saying he wants to be a better team now with a Drouin trade.

Streit+ for Drouin+ someone off their team could be something we are trying to do. Would have to be a defenseman one would think. Those options aren't too sexy though.

I honestly think it has to do with matt carle. Tampa needs to unload his salary. Might be seeing what he has left in the tank. He would possibly be a bridge to the young kids. If you can get drouin not give up a big dog prospect it might be worth it. Im not buying team usa bs or scouting. Homer is the president. He wouldnt be scouting four days before deadline.

I agree. He could easily just scout them for Team USA when they are in town or we play them twice in the next week or so...

The hardest to find of those are already here.

Voracek - Giroux - Simmonds
B Schenn - Couturier - 45 point winger
Read - Laughton - Cousins/Raffl

70 -- 73 -- 62
54 -- 54 -- 45
39 -- 31 -- 31

The way I see it for next season..

Voracek (70) - Giroux (73) - Simmonds (50 [-12])
Raffl (31 [-14]) - Couturier (50 [-4]) - Schenn (54)
Laughton (35 [-4]) - Cousins (31) - Konecny (40 [+9])

-31 off of where we need to be altogether

Improving that 2nd line LW spot via UFA or draft this summer would be huge.

The Flyers are:

1st in the NHL in penalty minutes.
3rd in the NHL in penalties.
3rd in the NHL in fights.
4th in the NHL in hits.
4th in the NHL in majors.
4th in the NHL in minors.

Those are not good categories to lead in.

We're still third in fights? I don't think I can remember the last fight we had. Was it whoever fought after Simmonds fought McIlrath?

Yeah, I never read too much into these types of things, but it does seem odd that Hill and Homer would be there. I've never seen Homer go to a non-Flyers game in the past (surely he has but I've never seen it) and like you said, we're playing them twice in the next week or so, why go now? Just to scout for those games? Seems unlikely. I smell a big deal. Let the wild speculation begin!

There is not much leeway to make the team be more physical/gritty/chippy/nasty!

This is 2016... not the late 90's, there are maybe ~4-5 teams in the NHL that play a more physical brand of hockey than the Flyers at the moment.

Anaheim, L.A., Boston, Winnipeg & St. Louis are the only ones who arguably play 'rougher and tougher' than the Flyers in the NHL.

We lead in those stats almost every year. I think it has less to do with our roster and more to do with our reputation tbh. Flyers games are always called tightly. It bothers me

Not enough, not close. And we would need to send more cap

Paul Holmgren and Al Hill are scouting Tampa tonight. Obviously a big deal when Homer is going. They have to respect his eye for talent(can't take that away from him)

Something has to be brewing between the two teams big time. We have been following them for a little while now and rumors of us chasing Drouin as well. Let's see if Hexy can really get what he wants.

If a trade does break with the Lightning and Flyers, I will be nervous as all hell to see the deal though.

Someone mentioned Homer is also a scout for Team USA though as well.

Homer is scouting for Team USA, false alarm everyone.
