To Vancouver: Ristolainen, 2019 3rd round pick

To Buffalo: McEneny, Eriksson, 2020 4th round pick, Brassard

Works for both teams, Risto and Eriksson get a new shot to pick up their careers with new teams, Buffalo fills the cupboards, Vancouver gets out of Erikssons contract. Win win

One day a team will make you a gm and start winning cups? Don't you think the current ones know a lot more than you about this game and who are worth their investments?

A fair amount dont know more no. Those are the GMs that trade Hall for Larsson, or held Jack Johnson up on a pedestal for years. Undoubtedly some GM will give up something stupid for RR, and undoubtedly that GM will be fired in a few years, partially because of that trade. And people in 2023 will ask, "what the hell was that GM thinking", and you can drudge up this post and say "goddammit, that one poster (well actually a large amount), was right"

Speaking of Larsson and Jack Johnston, if Larsson can get Hall and JJ get Carter. RR could get something pretty good. Its 100% not justified, but some GMs are super irrational

Buffalo is looking for 2C, possibly more defensive RHD and RW. If Botterill will trade Risto for picks, it is terrible.

So you’re looking for a 2C or RHD or RW...
Tyler Toffoli
Alec Martinez
For
Risto
Covers 2 of the 3 needs and we might even retain on Alec

It might be interesting, but what's the catch?)) How much Martinez is good at defensive play and why does he play RHD if he is left-handed, what happened to Toffoli this season or is it just a regress of all the team players and because of that his production has fallen?

If only they had a guy who is solid defensively and is capable of 60 points somebody like ROR in St Louis

The ROR jokes are getting old. Your fascination for the Sabres is rather concerning. Aren’t you a Leafs fan? You started the Who’s left to coach the Sabres thread as well.
Just go enjoy your playoff run.

Martinez can actually play both sides equally, puts up points though you won't know it because our O is always one of the worst, and is a shot blocking machine.
Toffoli, like the rest of the team just took a dump and you guys would be buying low on him.. expect 20 goal on our team if he were to stay so 30-ish goals on any there team lol.

Toffoli is an impending UFA coming off a terrible season. Martinez is past his prime. Very underwhelming.
Take a look at what Jake Muzzin is doing for the TML and expect a notch below that. So maybe you consider that underwhelming but he's no worse than your #4 Dman.
Toffoli went through a slump this season but so did the entire team, just look a Kopitar losing 40 points on his production. Expect a return to the norm of 20 goals and 45 points on the Kings.. or on any other team thats closer to 30 goals and 55 points

might upgrade that 4th rounder to a 3rd rounder, but otherwise very fair

To Van:

Top 4 RHD who is 24 and has almost 200 points over 424 games

To Buffalo:

AHL forward who is 24, has played 1 NHL game
Bottom 6 NHL forward that is paid like a Top 6 Forward
Player who when you google his name you get "Vancouver Canucks have given up on Matt Brassard"

You know what would make this trade even though? A small add from Buffalo, so for good measure you can have our 3rd and we'll take your 4th.

Words cannot explain how idiotic this proposal is

This deserves its own thread. I want to see someone come up with a worse package.

The Sabres might have an unsigned pick as non-descript as Brassard, but they don’t have a worse contract than Erickson or a worse defenceman that McEneny.

I wouldn’t take that package to move up from a 4th to a 3rd and you ask the Sabres to drop down.... well done.

I'm sure it's been said before, but he's been horribly misused in Buffalo. They want him to be a top 2 all around guy. He is not that AT ALL. He needs way less minutes and way less defensive zone starts. If used primarily as an offensive guy and not relied upon to stop the other teams top lines he would be a much more effective player.

Pretty good assessment.

If a team wants a second pairing offensive guy who can QB and pp than he could be a fine pickup, though seems if some folks are expecting a top pairing level return in terms of assets.

Though there are still a few questionable GMs out there who may bite

is the answer jesus

Take a look at what Muzzin is doing for Toronto and knock that down several notches and that's if there's no decline in an aging Martinez's game. I don't think our team is helping anyones offensive output at this point so I'm not all that optimistic Toffoli bounces back here and then there's the issue of his contract expiring at years end. Don't get me wrong I think both players could help the Sabres. However I think a properly utilized Ristolainen is a much more valuable commodity. If LA wants him I'm asking for Kupari, which isn't a player LA is likely to part with.

Yeah I agree. Miller has way more value. No way we would do that trade. It’s ridiculous how much you guys complain about Risto and then act like he has any value.
Since when has people complaining had any impact on real life player value. Or anything, really. :biglaugh:

Most threads and fans were talking about ROR and how he had comparable stats to Bergeron etc. Props to the fans that were reasonable in their expectations for the return. I actually thought the return should have been better then what they got but not as much as some fans were suggesting.

Those fans were right...
