Tim Thomas in 2011 stole the Cup.

Bruins shell-shocked the Canucks in most of their wins while the Sedins mostly threw soft muffins at Thomas from outside Seidenberg and Chara. Bruins would have won that series with Antti Niemi.

Malkin, Keith, Zetterberg and Quick are my favorites.

I’m not even the first person here who put 2010 Toews over 2017 Crosby. Obviously Crosby had a better Final, but Toews slaughtered the West in 2010. Down 2-1 to Nashville, he scored 25 points in an 11-2 run to win the Campbell Bowl.

What he did to Roberto Luongo and Vancouver in Game 4 to take a 3-1 series lead was, in particular, disgusting. By comparison, Crosby wasn’t even in the lineup when Pittsburgh took a 3-1 series lead over their biggest challenge: the Washington Capitals.

Toews is a weird run to evaluate, I grant you. It’d be like if Vegas somehow won against Washington while Fleury’s performance was what it was - can you still give him a Conn Smythe?

2012 quick doesn't get enough love

Quick is a weird one for me because you can’t argue with the results and numbers, but watching the Kings during that run it never seemed like Quick had to steal a game. The 2012 Kings are still the best defensive team I’ve watched win the Cup. Almost flawless, everyone knew what they were doing and where they had to be.

The ones that sort-of stand out to me are Malkin in '09 and (to a lesser extent) Zetterberg in '08.

The rest seem to be brief one-offs (Ward), weak choices (Niedermayer), one random guy out of a pool of five or six equally deserving (Williams, Toews), or NHL-sponsored media narrative choices (Crosby '16, Ovechkin).

It was just a general list of players who should not have won it. I believe I had already stated (somewhere) that Ovechkin's '18 is better than Crosby's '16...but on a list of what-should-have-been non-winners, the need to differentiate is clearly not needed...
