I'm just praying they're playing like this because they're pacing themselves for the playoffs...and the chemistry that's not really there

Certainly don't think they're " trying " to lose or don't care....but there's no doubt they let off the gas a bit tonight after last nights loss. Could very well be pacing themselves a bit right now. When you have a long streak going, players elevate their games to the top floor ...giving it everything they have to keep it going. You really don't want that with the playoffs coming up. If this was an 82 game season and we had this streak going, I'd be pissed it ended without breaking it.

Harrington is injured in London. Dumoulin can't be much worse at this point

Dumoulin would have to TRY not to be worse than any Penguins defenseman tonight (save MAYBE Despres or Murray).

****, I miss Mark Eaton. The Four Pylons of the Hockey Apocalypse will do that, I suppose. :shakehead

With respect, Letang's and Martin's Norris stock has gone up even more.

No. No. No no no no no no. How much of the streak did Letang missed? Don't undersell Sid's importance. No one on this team is taking over, leading, anything. No one. Letang and Martin are vital to their cup chances, but this isn't 'wow, your back end sucks' this is 'wow, wake up'

It's not a chemistry issue. It's a "Guys we need to step up have taken a huge step back for some reason" issue. Neal, Kunitz, and Geno are out of sorts offensively, and Niskanen and Orpik have been laughably bad.

I'm not saying there's any kind of imminent collapse, but until Martin, Sid and Letang come back around the playoffs...

You guys all need to relax you're flipping out. Bylsma needs to let the team know this effort is unacceptable but at the same time we are going to struggle with this defense. It's just the way it is. Our #1 and 2 defensemen are hurt, and we don't have anyone capable of stepping up and filling those minutes.

Letang will be back soon, and then all will be well again. I can just about guarantee that.

NO JOKE? :handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap::yo::yo::yo::amazed::amazed::amazed::amazed::amazed::amazed: This is actually really good news, ive never wanted him to be in the line-up more

No, not confirmed, totally guessing/speculating, sorry, that's what the 150 exclamation points were for. Sorry, I'm in a bad mood. I bet on the Rangers -8, they aren't gonna cover.

The good news is, 18-71-12 is dominant, and Geno is showing us how stars react to injuries.

How do you bungle acquiring Jarome Iginla?

You lose Letang and Martin to injury?

Seriously, you're smarter than this. Game plan predicated on fast outlets and defensemen joining the rush. Only one is moderately adept at doing so out of tonight's roster. Defensive game plan is predicated on taking away time and space. Defensemen holding a contest to see who can back up most on any shift. Not a surprise. You could see this two games ago. Losing Martin AND Letang is a killer.

Pittsburgh is overrated. After the Iginla trade, many were already writing them up as Cup finalists or even winning it all. All because of the trade for one player and a few others.

But, there was not much done about the defence and there still is the widely inconsistent and overrated Fleury.

They collapsed later year and that is their weakness still today.

4-1 previously and now 5-1.... Maybe Vokoun might be their goalie and will take over in the playoffs?

So people stop moving their feet, stop using their brains, and stop playing smart, responsible hockey because Martin and Letang are out? How many games of the streak did Letang miss?

Goaltending is not the problem in this game.
