3 years is sort of the cutoff point where you have to go "ok, we'll have to think about this potentially with a different team"

We know the outlook for the rest of this contract, or at least we should.

Terrific news. I've consistently been in the "resign Namestnikov, let Spooner go" camp.

He did not mesh with AV. We saw that. We know that. He's better than the 20 games in March/April. Quality two-way, high IQ forward, will serve as a leader to acclimate Buchnevich and the Russian forces to come. Get ready for Kravtsov, it's happening.

Love this re-signing.

The only dumb stuff is when people are attacking fellow posters who disagree with a move that the team made. And then they whine how dumb all the posters are and how they need to learn NHL.

Remember when Hockey Rodent was suggesting that Prucha could be an important part of a deal for Ovechkin if the Caps couldn’t bring him over?

Remember the the Prucha-for-Seabrook rumored deal?

Prucha was an HF meme legend.

What ever happened to Rodent

How about we just re-sign both of them for 2 years and then trade both of them after next year

Interested to see how he does, I dont think he's worth $4M but you have to like the term.

Not sure if he's a guy you win with, so he's a good filler player that can plug into a lineup.

Very trade able contract if it comes to that next year or this even.

Now, Suburban Phoenix. Then, Long Island
Good bridge deal.
This is not a bridge deal. A bridge deal comes when the player is coming off ELC and the team gives them shorter term rather than a 5-7 year deal that buys out free agent years.

This is a put up or shut up deal. In two years Vlad is a UFA. Before the second year he will either be extended or traded.

When you come in and make asinine statements about RFA contracts that are almost exactly at the predicted market value, and are objectively fair, even if you dislike the player, it's extremely annoying. You said Gorton was insane and Namestnikov was now an un-tradeable contract. These are both objectively false.

If you don't like a player that's fine. If you don't think the deal should have been made, that's fine. But when you come in, guns blazing with ridiculous hyperbole without evidently even being aware of what Namestnikov would be worth...then, yeah, people will treat you with ridicule.

However you want to term it, I like the way it's structured.

Riley Nash the UFA just signed for 2.75 mil, he put up 40 points mostly on 3rd line. Namestnikov the RFA after putting up 40 points on Tampa's top line and then nosediving with the Rangers gets 4 mil. both former 1st rounders.
