And the coach who has been fired several times already gets a new gig in NHL. Pretty funny.
True, though were either of those last two sackings really deserverd? AFAIK, Vegas fans are still 50-50 on that. Obviously they don't complain at the moment what they are getting from DeBoer...

Got a lot of talent to work with, should be interesting to see how it plays out. Gallant seems to wear out his welcome rather quickly with FOs for some reason, hope that he has found himself more of a permanent spot.

My first response to this is "oh nooooo".

Not because I dislike the Rangers, but because they are a team with a tremendous amount of potential and Gallant has been a coach, thus far, who gets everything out of his teams.

This might be the move that takes them from 'potential' to 'serious threat' and the league already has enough of those (at least from the perspective of a fan of a team that has never won the Stanley Cup in their 51 year history).

i'll wait on them first. the rangers first step is to make the playoffs. then i'll take them seriously. for now, i get its a good hire but he has yet to coach a single game and i don't know what offseason moves they'll do.

People act like the best coaches can't adapt. Gallant was playing a draft-eligible player 1D minutes at the WC over NHL defensemen.

Are you expecting Gallant to request Kakko and Lafreniere traded for Reaves and Martin? No, he'll adapt. He will bring a different philosophy though to the team. They will be harder to play against, and there will be more of an emphasis on team defense, work-ethic in all zones from every player, and he will also probably be better than someone like Quinn at getting the young players to improve. Thats not to mention that he's also better tactically than Quinn.

It might not work, but this idea that he's a bad fit and it absolutely won't work before we even see him coach a day for the team makes no sense.

I don't think they have what it takes to play a mature game yet. Gifted offensively but very soft and very porous defensively. Florida and Vegas both designed their teams for Gallant upon his arrival. I think the Rangers are going to be very active on the trade front to accommodate Gallant

You'll probably trade for kassian though because of what happened during that night. Rangers need some bite in that lineup.

Exactly took an 0-3 team at that tournament to a Gold medal victory which had infinitesimally small odds.

He’s a fantastic coach and the type of players coach that core players for the Rangers will battle hard for.

I’m not shocked at all that the Rangers grabbed him, I’m glad he’s not going to Seattle and in the Pacific.

This is a good day for Rangers fans.

I'm not coronating them, and to be fair I would be more hesitant if it was a rival of ours like Calgary. But this is a hockey message board and my initial inkling is that this is a really good hire and, if I'm right, the NHL just became little more difficult for other teams.
