I'm not a fan of either team sweetheart. Don't jump to conclusions. I don't agree with the fact that a professional sports team that generates income for the league should have no ability to critique the league. It makes zero sense.

They do have the ability to critique the league, through proper channels. It's why there are BoG meetings among other things.

Outright having a public hissy fit doesn't fly, not in the NHL, not in the NFL or any other major sports league.

Their redress is spelled out quite clearly in their agreements for being allowed to own a team.

Tom Wilson's hit to the head of a player who was already in the ice has no place in the game. Then him escalating shit by rag dolling Panarin shows the kind of person he is. Dude should be lucky to only be sitting out the remainder of the season and post season. But leave it to Parros, a guy who was one of the dirtiest players on Ducks team that was built to be dirty as hell, to look at that and say "5,000 dollars and never do it again".

Selanne was such an odd duck (accidental pun) in that team. All the other star players were so incredibly nasty, physical and dirty.

What I worry about is that NHL is a sport watched by many kids. If you can get away with a minor fine for punching a guy with his face down on the ice and throw another player hard on ice, you are sending a message to these kids that it is ok to act that way, whether in a sport game or in a school yard. If NHL does not keep this out of the game, the game should come with a warning about violence like in movies, so the parent can keep their kids from not watching the game.

Believe me, kids will imitate what they see on TV especially if they find out there is little consequences to these action. If your kids get beat up by someone who copy what Wilson or another angry uncontrolled NHL player did, you may think twice about if this is ok for kids to watch.

Yes I understand that hockey is a physical sport and players can get way too passionate about the game at times but there is code to follow and a boundary that one should not across. It is the honor part of the game which most players understand but unfortunately there are a few exceptions who seem to never learn about it.

As far as Wilson goes, he may understand better if one day his own kid somehow get beat up by a bully from school. He needs to be aware that these things has a way to circle back to him. He may get away today but maybe years down the road, something may happen and he will think why is this happening to my kids? He really needs to try to quit keeping crossing those boundaries and if he did at least apologize for what he did and make sure the other player is ok.
Uhmm what?

And when the league refuses to conduct itself appropriately after the Rangers went through the proper channels? Parros' conduct was simply unacceptable, and for Bettman to fine the Rangers for needing to educate the NHL that their head of the DOPS is clearly unfit for continued employment is a black mark against the sport. The NHL could easily have avoided the problem by holding Parros accountable for his clear and obvious corruption. It's not the Rangers fault that the league doesn't care about integrity or professionalism.

Hurt a players body, ending his season >$5000

Hurt executives feelings >$250,000
it was three flipping games and IF the rangers would have made the playoffs he would have miraculously healed.

Maybe they dug up the body of pat morita to do the clap, rub hands deal like he did on Daniel-san

And if you are surprised that publicly calling out the league results in a fine..............

watch more games junior.

I would LOVE for some dude to pin Kuznetsov to the ice with a stick across the back of his neck, then punch him in the back of the head. Then stand up and "defend himself" against a 50lbs lighter Niklas Backstrom by ripping his helmet off and using his hair to leverage him into a head first body slam to the ice. And then to come in here and see 90% of the people defending Wilson, bitching about what happened in this case.

Hypocrites trying to justify a lunatic's actions. I would never defend that kind of garbage, regardless of the logo the guy had on his jersey.

And if he didn't? Let's say when Wilson slams Panarin down by his hair, it causes him to smack his head and he's out for six months? Is that when the league needs to suspend Wilson? Because yes, let's wait until a serious injury occurs before we throw the book at a repeat offender. This would look bad regardless of who did it but the fact Wilson was suspended this season and still doesn't give a shit speaks volumes on how laughably embarrassing DoPS looks right now.

The fine is adequate, your opinion on it doesn't matter nor does Dolan's.

It's entirely the Rangers ownership that is at fault for why they received a fine.

People like you fail to grasp even the basics of how any of this works and it seeps out of every post you make. The league doesn't need the rangers ownership. Dolan caught on to that message clearly faster than a lot of posters on HF have.

The Rangers level or more specifically the complete lack of level of professionalism is why they were fined.

Guess what happens if they keep at it, fine gets bigger, draft picks get lost, if it goes far enough, Dolan is striped of ownership.

See, their statement has continued to keep this crap going on, it's led people like you to believe that your opinion some how matters, here's the wake up call you clearly need, your opinion doesn't matter, an owners opinion does not matter.

Dolan's net worth is 2.5B vs Harris's 5.3B. Guess how much either club is worth without the NHL? 0.

You should probably get new glasses. Buch was on top of Wilson's stick. I mean how do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you fail at even the most basic ability to reiterate what occurred?

Those of us old enough to remember him, remember he definitely played on the edge of clean and dirty and in the playoffs he would cross that line more often than people who didn't watch him play might remember. It was also on a Ducks team that was built to straddle the line, so it wasn't like he was doing it in solitude.
