Yeah, easy to keep piling praises on Taillon, but this is extremely impressive. The offense has dropped the ball mostly, and some of that is on Hurdle. Bell would be able to work counts a lot better than Gosselin, and Lester would probably be on the very of being knocked out of the game right now. Instead he's on pace to pretty comfortably get through 7, which means Taillon needs to keep it locked down.

We've had way too many guys picked off at first base for such a short part of the season so far. It's a brutal way to lose an out and should not happen anywhere near this often.

Team has really let Taillon down today -- we'll see if he can again escape unscathed.

Mercer is incredibly overrated. If Kang comes back, play him at SS and Freese at 3B.

Mercer is not overrated, and Kang is not a plus defender at SS.

This is exactly what you would expect with this lineup.

It sucks that Taillon got charged with an earned run there. The only reason that baserunner even scored there is because Mercer bobbled that ball.

Regardless of the aggressively stupid lineup decisions and defensive miscues today, Taillon is incredibly fun to watch and this was even more encouraging. If you might make one slight knock on him, it's his inability to push into a higher gear to get out of tough situations, whether it's ones he's put himself into or ones that his defense has walked the team into. He did that several times today in different ways, by battling tough and not giving in, or by missing bats. That's what an elite pitcher does with regularity.

Now, Hurdle had to have known they weren't going to give Bell anything to hit in that situation. Why not just pinch hit Hanson from the start instead of completely wasting Bell?

The run was unearned because of the error.

Can't blow this opportunity... come on.

Boom... didn't exactly crush it but I"ll take it! Let's get this lead now and some insurance.
