Unreal....some bad luck but my God Melancon literally lost 2-3 MPH on his stuff from last year. 88-89 cut fastballs aren't going to get it done consistently sir.

Call a spade a spade. I've watched plenty enough baseball to spot a guy who simply is outmatched. Melancon's stuff is reduced, for whatever reason. His cut fastball is seriously sitting 87-89. That's not going to cut it. Unless you're Greg Maddux hitters are going to beat that more often than not.

Like I said, Melancon is out of his element as a closer. He is a setup pitcher. He doesn't have stuff to be a dominant closer in this league. Never did. Hurdle just became enamored with him after Grilli struggled.

Yeah but Watson gave up his run on a 420+ foot blast. Melancon gave up 1 solidly hit ball and he got every bad break he could have.

Also Watson was facing the bottom of the order.
