Kreider made two great plays and picked up two apples, chose him as one of the stars, also was solid on the PK.

Chose Kakko he was awesome tonight. Starting to really come along and picked up a goal and an assist.

Chose Tarasenko for his 1st goal as a Ranger but thought his game was not as sharp as the game went on

I think the Rangers just don't have an answer for teams who are really aggressive, with D's pinching hard taking away the walls. Outside of Fox they don't have anyone who can exploit the middle of the ice on a breakout if the walls are taken away. If they can get it past them then yeah they can attack off the rush like they did early but if that doesn't happen they end up stuck in their end for long shifts.
You need that touch pass from the forward supporting the d on the walls to the second forward who's on the move. They don't do that well consistently.

Rangers have won 12 of their last 15 on home ice I believe Sam said.

The team is good. The west is absolute trash.

And feel for the mikkola kid two of the 3 penalties flat out aren’t penalties. Ridiculous really.

I still say go get Braun and Motte

Love Tarasenko’s swagger. He’s not a 20 goal guy he’s a 30 plus guy and he’ll turn it up now that he’s in the spotlight. Love how much he loves being here with Panarin two of them looked thrilled.

The game was all about Tarasenko's debut and he'll fit right in as we all hoped.

Thought it was funny Trouba scored a PP goal on a soft backhand floater into the crease instead of the huge one time blaster he always shoots wide

Kakko was a beast, Laffy's passing sublime at times. Chytil could have kept his goal scoring streak alive but missed/goalie saved on a couple good chances. I liked to see Fil setup in the slot ready to shoot off a Kakko or Laf feed.

But the team breaks down in the neutral zone too much still and has trouble with speedy aggressive forechecks especially when they get tired.

The Kraken moved the puck well and had legs still in the 3rd period b2b. Is that allowed?

The refs were brutal but that's the normal now.

This was a weird game.

They blew the doors off in the first and were up 4-0 before they were 2 minutes into the 2nd. Nothing else really happened in the period.

Go up 5-1 early in the 3rd and then the refs took over.

Like the refs are rarely flawless, but this was as poorly and officiated game as you're going to see. Flashbacks to the Penguins series from last year.

1st period was a lot of fun, but the 2nd and 3rd were pretty bad. Rangers had a lot of trouble against Seattle's speed and forecheck, didn't establish much if any offensive zone time of their own either. Tarasenko scoring that goal was electrifying though.
The Rangers have trouble against teams with speed and aggressive pressure forechecking styles, same reason they've struggled vs Carolina in recent years. However, the blueprint for beating teams like that can be found in the Carolina series from last playoffs - you have to push the pace right back at them. When the Rangers just sit back and try to weather the storm is when they get into trouble. Playing tight pressure on them, force turnovers and spring transition plays opens things up.

Not a fan of this one, liked the goals though and the kids, not much else. Seattle hustles.
