That’s a hard yellow. Only red if he doesn’t get the ball first. Only an English ref makes that call.

Straight red cards really should be absolutely last resort and for very obscene and obvious fouls...intent to injure or denial of goal scoring opportunity. Should always start with yellow, and two yellow = red is the right way to control the game.

Cheap red cards totally ruin the sport, an entire game can be thrown out because of it.
Agreed with everything but ruining the sport. The drama is still there.

The irony of having English refs in charge of VAR, the worse VAR refs in any major European league. They follow that blue lien mentality and aren't gonna overturn one of their own lol. In fact I'm not sure why any red-card related decisions lie with the on-field ref if we can just use replay.
