Thanks for making a sincere effort at it. Lots of interesting ideas. Kampf, Murphy, Hartmann could all help. I'd be perfectly content moving Kerfoot. It would hurt to lose Kapanen.
I don't think Dubas/Keefe are going to force Dermott or any other left sider to play the right side. I think at this point I think one of Rielly or Dermott has to go. It's a bit of a risk but I think starting up again with a left side of Muzzin, Sandin and Dermott is perfectly fine. IMO Sandin's destined to be a 1st pairing defender. And if the left side isn't good enough, quality left side defensemen are more common.
Now only building on your roster...
What could Rielly possibly return? Perhaps a high quality right sider on a bridge contract?
Kampf for the 4th line instead of the 3rd line? Or maybe give Engvall a chance to take the 4th line center role over Gauthier.
And I think there's going to be another Spezza next season (maybe Spezza again?).
Subtract Agostino or Gauthier then add Clifford on a couple years @ $2M. I do agree that Korshkov is ticketed for the NHL sooner than later but he'll have to be in the lineup otherwise there's no reason to keep him as an extra forward being that he'll be waiver exempt.
Dark horse to start the season: Adam Brooks. He's got NHL legs, I'm not sure about the skill level but he's pretty much the only center prospect remotely close to NHL level. That counts for a lot.

That's why I'm refusing to watch any TV or movies or read books or bathe or groom myself. That's why I haven't gotten out of bed and am repeatedly traumatizing by watching and reading the news 24/7. That's why my diet consists entirely on Cool Ranch Doritos, Coke and Joe Louis I bought in bulk.

I think if we sign Pietrangelo, one of Marner or Nylander would have to go, and im kind of leaning towards Marner since he would give us the better return.
having 4 players on your team making half the salary cap, with Rielly due for a raise is not a good situation.
i guess he did say best roster for 20-21 though

Like where you are headed with this. But I think you could go a bit farther. Engval could take over what Kerfoot does. Trade Kerfoot too for more 2020 picks. Freeing up to resign Clifford for 1 year. and another Clifford like guy too.
Option 2. try to trade an AJ to Edmonton for Larson and JP. Then could have a full lineup and the best option for roster protection in the expansiondraft.

I hear you on the Marner/Nylander front and you're most likely correct. I tried to put up a roster where the big 4 forwards remained and still sign Alex P .
It would be pretty tough but could be possible if only for 1 more season .
Wishful thinking i guess - good theme for the current times

This is a playoff team that can do damage and contend. Like the scrappiness and compete with new guys. I hope we move in this direction. We will be a much tougher team that you can't cycle out or trap out.
