Down to two prospects (Zboril and Lauzon) who are still in the CHL playoffs now that Zach's Soo have bowed out. Did not see any of what turned out to be their last game. Significantly more quality teams in their side of the playoff draw with at least 4 teams who could have won the league title.

Not sure what they might do, if anything, with Zach now that he is in theory available. Suddenly extremely crowded in Providence. Would agree that joining the big club for the PO's is not his next step. None the less another key piece of the prospect cache is ready to join the fold. The future is arriving in a hurry.

Next year is a big transition year for sure, but the year after we should be looking at the early years of Sweeney's plan in full force.

still don`t understand calling these kids up then not playing them due to it being a "heavy series"? Aren` t they all going to be heavy this time of year? Are they just bringing these two up to expose them to playoff hockey at the Pro level?

Heavy series was a bad choice of words by Dean as it implies that the 3 from the CHL are somehow soft,we all know that's not the case, however going through the current Providence roster I don't see a spot for those 3 at the moment

Shouldn't play McAvoy vs the Senators, it's going to be a heavy series, and you don't want to expose that to a kid.

Oh wait.

I know everyone is different, but if these guys are suppose to be the B's future, get them going.

I really think Lauzon will step right in and play for the Bruins next season.Really impressed with what I have seen from this kid.

WBS has a couple of massive thugs. Sestito and Kostopoulos. So there's that.

Again, throwing them all out there to the wolves at once doesn't make any sense. I know there are some here who couldn't care less if Providence gets smoked 7-0 every game and swept, but you know I don't think that helps development either.

If the Bruins get eliminated tonight Mcavoy could go right back to Providence and play there, right? Excited to see Lauzon in Providence.

I really doubt Boston is going to have a 19 and 2 20 year old Defenseman in the lineup to start next season.

There was a time when it would have been unthinkable. Given the attraction of them being low cost options with entry level deals you just can't bet against it. The reality of a the cap world the NHL now finds itself in. Top half of the roster are paid handsomely as stars and the bottom half as much of a bargin as you can find to complete a roster. Every team now follows that formula to a large degree. The result: every team has a roster with noticeable flaws that many fans don't quite understand why glaringly obvious problems are not addressed by management.

Don't see why not.Lauzon I think could be another Carlo and step right in next season .

I think Lauzon will be first in line for a call-up if there's an injury next year. With one of k.miller or McQuaid going to LV, you still have:

Chara-McAvoy
Krug-Carlo
C.Miller- whoever doesn't go to LV

I don't see Lauzon passing one of those guys on the depth chart in the fall, so it'd be better to get him minutes in Providence to start.

Maybe Sweeney makes an offseason move to make room, but right now I think he's destined for the P-Bruins next September.

Sure, but at the same time, they are keeping Chara, and almost certainly Krug. So if they dump Morrow and Liles, and lose one of McQuaid or the Millers to Expansion, that still means Boston will have 4 veterans around on Defense. Add in someone like O'Gara who made opeining night this year before going down and having a strong season, and seeming like a very stable bottom pairing type at least. That makes a very tough hill to climb for someone like Lauzon who almost certainly would be best off getting a year in at the AHL level.

Now if they make some big trades in the offseason that could change the math and make it more possible.
