When they haven't done much at the NHL level...where they were picked and how they were ranked on predraft boards matters if you are going to rank prospects if your pick corresponds to best player available.

It would make zero difference if you were going to rank NHL/AHL level players/prospects between 20-25 who had minimum 2 yrs experience.

draft strength and draft order will vary from year to year, which will significantly effect where certain players are taken. Ranking our prospects in chronological order based on draft position in separate drafts is ridiculous

The Sleeper:Gustav Possler, Right Wing

Possler went under the radar a bit as a U19, possibly due to not being on Sweden's World Junior Championship team after looking good as a U18. He is a skilled player who skates well, and he has pro scoring potential.

Maybe he's the fith round diamond in the rough for Buffalo, he flew under the radar and eliteprospects.com goes on to say.

"A strong skating player with good finishing ability. Possler has a quick release and is overall quite gifted offensively. Hockey sense is decent, puck skills quite good." (EP, 2012)

He's had back to back 40 point seasons, hopefully he taps into some potential and turns that into at least 50-60 point seasons. One could only hope.

He was previously considered a guy who potentially could have jumped up the rankings into 2nd or late 1st round status, but then went the opposite direction due to his lack of making a large leap in his draft year. Could bode well for us, at the very least it was a good roll of the dice on a talented kid who'll be teammates with Ullmark going forward.
