Other than a great win to celebrate I think I'm developing a healthy "hate" for Patric Hornqvist. Never have I seen so many borderline hits in one game and the guy somehow has a grand total of 0 minutes in PIM this season. Nasty player.

Good things happen when Babs hasus engaging and being pro active. I liked the game as well, was entertaining but I think at the same time Pits was pretty flat and disjointed if not rattled by the end.
That's always the part we don't know. Off night for the Pens or the Leafs doing a good job of neutralizing and shutting them down? I feel like they had the puck but didn't do much with it.

Oh I'm 100% with you. Hated Hornqvist for a while now. He hunts players in vulnerable positions and tries to create space for Crosby or other stars.

“Your” opinion may be valid, or maybe “you’re” wrong.
Game 1 vs Winnipeg
CF: 59
CA: 60
CF: 49.58
Scoring chances: 31-28 Leafs
High danger: 19-15 Leafs

Game 2 vs Winnipeg
CF: 50
CA: 40
CF% 55.56
Scoring chances: 28-19 Leafs
High danger: 13-5 Leafs

But we were severly outplayed by the heavy team.

Rielly getting the C confirmed.

That would be ok. I don't like when the best player just gets the C. Rielly is a pretty diplomatic, likable guy but he has had more passion on the ice this year. He needed to find that and I am glad he has it now. Boy no longer

The second game really stands out.

Leafs out possessed them, outshot them, out chanced them, and out scored them.

I'm not sure what his definition of "outplay" is.
In the first game we had a 3-0 lead going into the 3rd. It's partially due to score effects. The team behind will take more risky chances and results in more shots on net.
We were ahead by chances by a decent margin before the 3rd period.

The D was playing as a group. Very quick set plays to go tape to tape and outlet pass.

In position quicker than usual, and a few plays they would read and 'catch' the penguins by surprise.

Babcock outcoached Sullivan, Majorly.

To my eye it was a bit of both. We were definitely active and pressuring them. We made good use of our speed where needed but didn't get caught up into some free for all pond hockey BS. I would say we played disciplened pro hockey vs a good team that was not quite ready for the game we brought.

As a unit, I thought they were all on point tonite. Smart decision-making and strong physical play when need be.

Dermott in particular was solid, he looks like a speedy winger at times.
Not loving Oz, but Dermott can hold things down.

Were a better team with Holl IMO.

No, but this game doesn’t negate all of Babcock’s warts this season?
