Is there a roster cut for sure before tomorrows game ? Didn't we go all the way to the last preseason game without cutting our dual squads last year ?

I think Babcock said it would be an AHL lineup here

Unless I misheard his post game interview yesterday
That sucks, I want to bury the Habs everytime we play them this year, preseason or not. Opening night vs. them should be a LOLfest.

Yeah, Babcock said the teams will now be split into the AHL guys and then the NHL guys.

I assume some cuts will be announced at some point today as well.

So either tomorrow or Wednesday we will see the likely opening night roster.

I imagine it will be;

Monday - AHL Squad
Wednesday - NHL Squad
Friday - NHL Squad
Saturday - AHL Squad

There's a rule the home team must dress 10 regulars who played 40 or more NHL games the previous season. Don't see how an all AHL squad tomorrow night at SBA can accomplish that.

I like the 7:30pm starts... I can never get everything done in time and be ready to watch the game by 7:00. I still don't end up getting to watch too many games live... but sometimes I can catch up by the 3rd period.

Too close to Ottawa and Montreal

Not sure about that, Shawn Simpson said on Ottawa radio this week that the vet rule no longer applied. This was after Chicago brought a almost totally unrecognizable roster to play the Sens. Marcus Kruger was the biggest name dressed. Crazy bad and they still beat the Sens.

Shouldn’t the NHL team play at home?

15.4 Exhibition Games.
(c) A Club shall be permitted to dress a minimum of eight (8) veterans for any Exhibition Game. For purposes of this Section 15.4(c), a veteran shall constitute either:
(1) a forward or defenseman who played in thirty (30) NHL Games during the previous season,
(2) a goaltender who either dressed in fifty (50) or more NHL Games or played in thirty (30) or more NHL Games in the previous season,
(3) a first round draft choice from the most recent year's Entry Draft, or
(4) any Player who has played one-hundred (100) or more career NHL Games.

So Carrick Sandin Marincin would count towards the 8. Then you have Greening, Cracknell, Jooris, Clune over 100 games? McBackup or Pickard in net ....done

Greening, Clune and Marincin also count as vets.

So if the "NHL Lineup" looks like this:

Marleau - Matthews - Ennis
Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Leivo - Kadri - Brown
Johnsson - Par - Kappy

Rielly - Hainsey
Jake - Zaitsev
Dermott - Ozzy
(Borgman)

then I guess the AHL lineup looks like this?

Timashov - Mueller - SDA
Clark - Brooks - Bracco
Engvall - Greening - Jooris
Grundstrom - Cracknell - Moore
(Clune - Goat*)

Marincin - Carrick
Rosen - Holl
Sandin - Lilly
(Nielsen)

Based on the rules, I believe the bolded (AHL roster) would be considered vets for the purposes of a pre-season game. I could be wrong.
