No game in Charlotte either. Blah.

Blarg! Would have loved to see that.

Not to derail the thread, but I've always thought it would be cool to see them work out an agreement with the Bobcats/Hornets to swap a couple of regular season home dates every year. Seems it would drum up more interest outside their home markets.

Seriously, would rather see us do a game in Charlotte then Quebec where we're the supposed home team. If the Habs wanted to be the home team in QC with the other game being in Charlotte that's another matter entirely.

First they trade with Buffalo, then they schedule two preseason games with them? What parallel universe am I living in?

A bunch of us should go to the Québec City game. We are the home team after all. Plus, I would forsee much hilarity that evening.:nod:

I might have to consider it, I think it would be pretty boss to see games in QC and Montreal on back to back nights, even if it is preseason.

Considering the number of QC fans who are claiming they're going to boycott because we're not the Avs, I almost think we should.

Beyond that, like I said in the BoH thread that THH started:

I'm not a fan of this idea either. If we have to play a neutral site preseason game, I'd much rather the Canes do it someplace where we can grow the brand and the fanbase than in some place like Quebec City. I would have preferred to see Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Columbia, or Charleston get this LONG before QC. At least that way we're broadening the fanbase in other parts of North or South Carolina.

I don't think South Carolina is even in the discussion when it comes to the Canes, I'd be shocked if there's more than a handful of fans down there. Charlotte or Greensboro works, and you could add Fayetteville to the mix as being able to hold a game.

Personally, I couldn't care less. It's a meaningless preseason game, and I'm sure season ticket holders are pleased they don't have to shell out money for a third preseason game.

Which is why broadening the fanbase down there is a good idea. You have three cities with arenas big enough to host a preseason NHL game - Greenville (Bi-Lo Center), Charleston (North Charleston Coliseum), and Columbia (Colonial Life Arena). Of those, all three have ECHL teams (albeit Columbia's is on hiatus until they can build a new hockey-only arena). Market to hockey fans down there and you at least will have as many people as will show up in QC.

BTW apparently our hosting the match is a sign we're "desperate for money"

Bi-Lo would be the best to start, I would like to see them moved as Charlottes affiliate also.

But it's not catered towards you. It's great that you live in Raleigh and can go to a game whenever you want, but not everyone can. I live in Greensboro and though I do get to my fair share of regular season games, I would love to see a preseason game 15 minutes away rather than 90.

So since this game will be a slap in the face to the poor residents of Quebec City, how about we just go ahead and pull the plug and give it to people who'll actually appreciate it?

Yeah, I just was reading that thread... :shakehead

We ended up being a lottery team with most home games being Tuesdays and Thursdays, and still ended up being ranked at the middle of the league in attendance and at 94% capacity. Yeah, we're desperate like Phoenix.

The Canes really do need to start expanding their marketing outside of the Raleigh area, though. 90 miles away and they do hardly anything over here, besides the once a year Cool Bars at our Ale House.

Out of curiosity does Minges Coliseum have icemaking equipment?

That thread... good god. You'd think it was a direct insult to the people of Quebec that this game was scheduled.

Wow, that thread is gold. Screw it, I'm on the move the game to a random city in NC/SC wagon now.
