I mean, Karlsson, Burns and Vlasic, along with our veteran forward group can run the PP on their own. I say turn them loose and let them do what they do.

DeBoer has said that that is exactly what they do and a player or two agreeing. Funny hearing the coaches get blamed for a PP where the players stop doing what they're coached to do

That is not true currently m. They did at one point, though.

How would you know? This was not on orders from the coaches. This was the coaches calling out the players for not running the PP as designed, but falling back on instincts.

I seem to remember quotes saying they didnt have a system in place for awhile amd let the players run it. But the coaches took it back over.

I knew 2016 would be a great year because PDB has such a great PK system, and we just came off 7 years of having a PP specialist in Todd and also having a group that's been together for awhile. I personally think they should just take a hands off approach.. I mean its not like theyre inexperienced they know what a #1 PP looks like, I think they can coach themselves up.

Honestly, the team would be better off if they just copied exactly what Washington did on their 1PP last year. Substitute John Carlson with Erik Karlsson, Alexander Ovechkin with Brent Burns, Evgeny Kuznetsov with Logan Couture, Nicklas Backstrom with Joe Thornton, and TJ Oshie with Joe Pavelski.

Or, they could copy exactly what was working for them last year before Joe Thornton got injured. Just substitute Kevin Labanc with Erik Karlsson and keep everything else the same. I really thought that was what Spott would do, but alas, he decided to over complicate the **** out of everything with Burns at RW and Thornton at LD. :help:

So much conviction...the board thanks you for your honesty.

Kane, on playing with Donskoi and Suomela:

“I thought we worked well with each other for never really practicing or playing prior to,” Kane said [sarcastically] of Thursday’s game. “Looking ‘forward’ to Sunday and seeing how THAT [nightmare] goes.”

I made some minor edits to showcase how he’s probably really arrogant.

You can't compare Humble Phil and Kane's Ego. Kane re-signed to play with Jumbo Joe not two no-name Finns.

I found a flaw in your logic.

Evander Kane signed a 7 year deal. Joe Thornton will not be playing for 7 more years.

I genuinely believe Kane signed with San Jose because he finally felt accepted and comfortable as a person. I don't think his "ego" will be an issue regarding which line he plays on.

If all Kane cared about was playing with elite centers, then why commit long term?

The Sharks were statistically a below average penalty killing team in 2016.

Let’s be real here; Kane signed in San Jose because nobody with a 0.001% chance at winning a Stanley Cup was offering him that kind of money.

Awesome. I saw the interview as well. I hope that line kicks ass all season and I’m confident that they will if they can stay healthy.

I tried to look for it but couldn't find it. The players are good enough. As long as the coaches remind them of things. They like to get stagnant.
I agree with you. I mean we have a pretty loaded 1st PP unit. Not only are they not scoring but they are not even looking dangerous.

If the players are not doing what the coaches are asking, move players around. Our 2nd PP unit at times has looked more dangerous because they may be doing exactly what the coaches are asking them to do. They are not even close to the talent level of the 1st PP unit but look a a lot more dangerous.

I would love to see a PP unit of 4 of the younger forwards with EK65. Throw Donskoi, Meier, Hertl, Labanc out with EK65 and see how it goes. I bet that does not get stagnant.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic, but I could be wrong.

Whether or not this is true, it probably is, it doesn't make what the original poseter said about him feeling accepted and wanting to be here any less true. Ya the Kane contract isn't great...we get it. Time to move on.

This Kane hate is going overboard. If he continues to bring the physicality he does and produces just 50 points a year maybe he is making 1M more a year than he should. After joining us last year he has 14 points in 17 regular season games and then 5 points in 9 regular season games. Give the guy atleast a fair chance, alteast one full season, before deciding how bad of a contract he is.

He has not been anything but positive since he joined us and has done whatever has been asked on him.

I guess I should have added the :sarcasm:. I wasn't being serious. I thought "Humble Phil" and "Kane's Ego" made it obvious. I don't like Kane's contract but I'm not a hater.

You can't assume humor when typing text! That's how relationships end!!!

Me: Girl you get my box?

Her: Yeah, the UPS man gave me a package.

Me: Cool, did you open it?

Her: Yeah, but I can't fit it in my mouth...
