Funny that they didn't show a single replay of Thomson dropping that dude.

If roles were reversed that would have shown it a dozen times.

LOL @ Salmela!

That OT goal and interview was amazing. I haven't watched it in a while but I remember him saying "it's nice to see this many people here" in the on-ice interview.

Did people have expectations for this game?? My goodness, even complaining about the PP? Its a AHL level squad with only a handful of a couple year NHL players. Merrill looked fine, Kinkaid was fine, Severson looked rusty but fine and Blandisi had a strong game. Why even complain about the PP when only one or two players from this game will actually be on the PP in the regular season. Tomorrows game you can have more expectations.

It's a preseason game. Let's wait until at least game 2 during the regular season to eviscerate players

Every time I see the title I have to do a double take, I keep thinking we played in East Jabib...which we might as well have since a lot of preseason games are in the middle of nowhere

I thought Konecny was the best player on the ice.

Hard to believe they snagged both he and Ivan in the same darn draft.

I thought for us, Gignac and Wood stood out a bit with their speed.

Wood will just need to learn when to use his speed. It seems like every game he comes out absolutely flying going 2x faster than anyone else and then after two shifts he's done.

I'm totally lost on this whole East Jibit thing, sounds like some place India or something!

I actually thought that this might have actually been the name of the municipality in which this game was being played at. I used to go to the Allentown area quite a bit and never recalled this name though, so I figured there was a joke or reference to it all, in which I'm unaware of.

Yeah, I actually went to Lehigh University and I haven't heard of it. Maybe the arena is a replacement for Stabler Arena? Or it's part of the little casino out there?

Speaking of old memes. Anyone have one of the mspaint drawings of Vish around?

When Salmela was first brought up in this thread, I also thought of Visnevsky. Two meh defensemen, who sort of had a cult following.

Just watched the game.

Didn't play poorly, the offense just wasn't good enough because this lineup wasn't the strongest offensively. I didn't think too many guys played bad, we were fine defensively. Just couldn't finish, because as was said, this was kind of a jobber lineup. It was basically Blandisi, a few guys who haven't played in the NHL/won't even be turning pro this year, a half a dozen AHL guys/low level prospects and Jacob Josefson on forward. And Severson and Merrill on defense, with prospects and AHL guys. I didn't think the defense was bad, but the Flyers didn't have the strongest lineup dressed either.

Kinkaid played good, couldn't fault him on either goal. I feel like that first goal on the deflection might hit Cory almost half the time and beat him more than half the time, but it wasn't a bad goal.

It was probably also getting even for the Kinkaid/Lindback shutout the other night.

Not at all. Oh well. I'm excited to see Hall and Henrique together tomorrow!

The Montreal game has made me so excited to see what Hall and Henrique can do together. I think that pair is going to be amazing to watch this season. Hard to get too down about this game when there is the excitement of having Hall on this team.

Them having Konecny and the Ghost is going to bring back nightmares of when the Rangers had both Sergei Zubov and Brian Leetch. The puck never left the zone on the PP when they were both on the ice and when the Devils took a penalty all you could do is hold your breath and hope for the best.

Philly is going to be very good in 2 to 3 seasons.
They are loaded in their prospect pool and have 3 impact players IMO in Gost, Ivan and Konecny.

Their amateur scouts have been nothing less than outstanding the last 4 years.

gost, sure, but konecny and provorov were must-haves at the spots they were chosen at, to be fair

Not sure what you mean by must-haves.

Konecny dropped to 24th due to size concerns which is hogwash as today's NHL suits smaller/skilled/fast players and he plays a fearless style.
The only long-term concern I would have with him is can his body hold up playing that style?
He is an all around smart/skilled forward and I had him in my Top-12.

Philly could have gone with Werenski, Connor or Rantanen at 7th.
All promising players, we will see how they all turn out.
